Or is he?
this is a forum for discussion, the fact you dont want replys makes it obvious that you did not need to create a thread about it.
I want replies!
NO.
Anderson is. GSP is number 2
ednzo777 - lol Anderson isnt not the GOAT
GOAT doesnt lose to cans and go 3-2 in Pride
Anderson hasnt always fought the best
The Spider entered the Octagon in 2006 and has yet to lose a fight. Anderson holds two wins over Rich Franklin, Nate Marquardt, Dan Henderson, Chael Sonnen and Vitor Belfort. Which one of those names would you like to refer to as cans?
Anderson also moved up in weight and wrecked a few light heavyweights for fun.
I'm not even an Anderson fan but to say he doesn't have the most legitimate claim to the mythical GOAT title is absurd.

Dude you're a noob. Stay off the Sherdog fight finder. Once he put on size and left Chute box he became a much better fighter. Ever heard of of something called improving??? GSP lost to a lightweight and he hasn't gone up in weight yet. GSP is number 2.
I'm not saying anyone is GOAT.
But Vitor is a big win, because due to MMA math this makes sense.
Vitor holds wins over Rich, Lindland, Couture, Wandy.
Whats the criteria? Silva is on an unparalleled run right now in the UFC. GSP's run is right behind it.
LOL@ discrediting Silva's status because of losses back in the Pride days. GSP lost to a guy that won a game show to get his title shot...........got brutally finished.

Dream Crusher - Or is he?
cute... what happened to your picture of GSP
I think its a great discussion to have, but i dont think anyone's opinion will change.
Fedor Fanboys will always think he is GOAT
GSP Nuthuggers will always think he is GOAT
Dana White will always think Anderson is GOAT
its like the P4P list, its all opinions but good for debating no the less
GSP has as good a claim as any, and in terms of "who is the best fighter" -- i.e., who do you think would beat everyone else -- it's hard to argue he doesn't have the best claim. He can outwrestle anybody, no one is subbing him from the bottom, and he can go 25 minutes with no trouble at all. And that's not even including the fact that he has not been outstruck in years.
IMO Orcus, GSP is behind Anderson. Mostly because he has a crushing defeat pretty recently in comparison to Anderson's Pride losses.
Both guys are in the discussion though; can't argue that.
Anderson then BJ
You're kidding with the BJ pick right? If you're not, can you go ahead and write out your rationale?
How is GSP even in the argument? Fedor is in the argument, Anderson is in the argument. But what has GSP done to put him in their league? Fedor and Anderson have much more impressive streaks and they finish their fights (GSP used to before Serra).
And I am so sick of the argument that GSP fights the harder competition. The best GSP has beaten is Hughes and Penn (with Fitch and Shields next) but in years to come Hardy, Alves, and Kosheck are going to be seen as never champion cans (plus add Serra as a fluke champion can).
I admit that I get frustrated with GSP because he was so good to watch before Serra 1 and to see him now annoys me. I think he is probably the most natural, skillful fighter around but his credentials for GOAT are nowhere near Fedor or Anderson for mine. In fact I put him at number five behind Hughes and Penn.
I would love for him to get back to what he used to be.
This thread clears things up, for those still confused.

If you have the ability to objectively look at the facts, it is clear who the p4p no.1 & GOAT is.
GSP.

No he doesn't.
St.Pierre for me. Can accept the argument for Anderson. No-one else is even in the conversation. Fedor is nowhere near it. HW GOAT yes, undeniably (though I believe Cain will eventually take this mantle), but nothing more.
Had a big laugh reading that nonsense post above saying that St.Pierre isn't even worthy of discussion but Fedor is. If Alves and Koscheck are 'never champion cans', what the hell does that make most of Fedor's wins?! Plus there's the standard "he isn't finishing" nonsense, which doesn't mean a thing since it's all about winning in a debate like this. Fedor's record is NOTHING compared to St.Pierre's, nothing at all.
