GSP Lay'n'Pray myth

Can someone please post some vid or a gif of GSP laying in someones guard, not attacking or passing and being stood back up?

I have seen almost all his fights but I must have missed this Lay and Pray he does.

Please since he does it all the time there must be a few gifs?

Anybody hook a UG'er up?

Thanks

don't hold your breath while your waiting.

What GSP does do is fight safe. He knows how to play the judges and looks to score points in the place of finishing a fight when he could.

Just like the people saying he lays and prays, anyone arguing against him being a safe fighter now is just a blind sack rider.

 Co wrecked.

GSP fights the smartest fights given the current scoring system as currently applied.

I will say, also, that GSP is a more active grappler than most of those typically called LnP fighters. He passed, for example, BJ's guard a number of times in their second fight.

suess -  you could replace the word safe with smart and still be right.  and i think it's been debated enough that he takes calculated risks when he can.  i won't debate that he fights safer than ever, but it would be false to say he fights completely safe.  high kicking jake shields would not be labeled "safe" imo.

Actually, throwing 1 high kick that entire Jake Shields fight is the exact definition of playing it completely safe. Shields has never been known as a striker of any kind in his entire career, and he played it completely safe by not opening up on any kind of strikes.

After he hit him with the headkick he didn't even rush in on him or swarm. For as much as I love GSP and his style. I find shit like that aggravating and makes me want to watch him less.

THIS

Again, why is it the champion's job to pull out all the stops. Doesn't that responsibility lie with the challenger?

i can totally understand someone thinking his fights are boring, even though i disagree.  this part is "to each his own".

i'm still riding his sack though.  i love me some GSP nuts.

Exactly, I appreciate what the guy does,
but I am not a fan.

I prefer a guy who comes out to take risks,
but I can admit GSP stays active

When a football team is in the lead, do they throw hail mary passes or does the losing team?

Fight safe/lay n pray, just using different terms to say the same thing. I like GSP and don't hate on him at all, the guy is an awesome fighter but, not very exciting to the average fan who dosn't know much. And why would you not finish a fight if you have the ability to do so, that is not safe at all. The longer the fight the more chance of him being caught with a punch or in a sub and being finish, himself. Your logic is flawed.

He's not a lay and prayer. He's just been very risk-averse and a little dull for the past couple of years. His last exciting fight was GSP v Penn 2. Phone Post

He moved in and threw strikes. Jake swept him off his feet and attempted a single leg which allowed him to get up.

Almost all of the criticisms of GSP on this thread can be said of Anderson Silva as well. He's had some horrible snorefests that were his own doing. He couldn have beaten both Maia and cote to a pulp but did goofy shit instead.

I enjoy watching killer instinct as well, but I don't deride a long time champ for sitting back and taking the win instead of taking chances.

So he was at a higher risk of Kos KO'ing him or subbing him than he was going for the finish?

Not sure what your asking me. Need to learn to use punctuations. But, I think I got what your asking me. My response would be, go ask Chael if he could back to the Silva fight if he would finish him if given the chance.

My criticism of GSP is that he doesn't have killer instinct or finish fights anymore. Can that really be said for Silva? Might want to go back and watch his fights again.

GSP threw a low kick early in the fight and he was almost taken down. He threw another low kick after that could have been taken down if he didn't have incredible balance, but still continued to throw the low kicks throughout the fight.

Arguably, the only chance Shields had to beat GSP was by taking him down, and GSP continually offered Shields his only opportunity to do.

He fights "safe" and can be boring for stretches within his fights.................but he is DOMINANT, and other than Anderson Silva the most dominant champion in UFC history.

I almost wish he'd lose so that he would change it up. When he was making a run at a title shot or to get back to his belt he was wrecking people.

 A real risktaker...that frenchie.

I have no problem with anyone saying that. I don't agree with it but it's a valid opinion.

My point is that Lay and Pray is a specific actual thing, when anyone says GSP lay's n Pray their opinion becomes dog shit because either they're trolling, an idiot or 17 years old.

I think GSP is too nice and gives people too much respect. A little bit of arrogance and meanness would go a long way.

One reason I was looking forward to the Diaz fight was that I thought Diaz would bring out the mean side of GSP in a way the Condit doesn't and their would be a finish one way or the other.
