GSP - Rematches

GSP has had several rematches in his UFC career and they typically do not work out for the opponent:

- In his first fight with Matt Hughes GSP tapped to an armbar in the rematch he brutalized Hughes on the feet at the end of the first and ended it quickly in the second. Their third fight was even worse for the former champ, eventually screaming "TAP" to end the fight.

- Matt Serra made GSP tap to strikes however in the rematch GSP unleashed a flurry of knees to the body and the fight was stopped in the second round(?)

- GSP squeaked past BJ in their first fight but made BJ quit (to the death Georgie) in between rounds in their second fight...GSP stole BJ's soul

- Kosh fougt admirably in his first fight with GSP but talked way too much shit before their second...GSP made him pay by literally breaking Kosh's face in the first round of their second fight.

Hendrix...dont fear the consequences, fear the rematch!!!

Vas-y-GSP!!

Well done and totally agree. JH should walk away Phone Post 3.0

So here's where it gets interesting....

Let's say GSP DID retire...you can make a case for Hendricks winning the fight have him fight someone like Condit for the belt and carry on...

But if they Rematch and GSP should say submit him, and than retire....now what do you do?

Hendricks could very well win the belt but everyone could say yeah but he went 0-2 against GSP....wouldn't that make the WW belt/champion somewhat harder to market for them?

There might be some of that early on if gsp wins a rematch then retires and JH gets the belt. However, people like change. It would be a fresh start for the division. Secondly, people have short memories. If the fights are good, people will be more willing to accept JH as the champ. Either way, time moves on and GSP won't be forgotten but like all great athletes, someone else will replace them Phone Post 3.0
