The #1 Contender will have to have 1 fight before the WW Title Fight or they will be inactive for 6-8 months if I am correct.

GSP is the #1 contender, but he needs another fight to stay active. If not, he may be sidelined while waiting for an opponent until...what, May or June if the winner of Serra/Hughes has any injuries to heal. I think GSP should rematch Karo to make things interesting, but I think Karo deserves a shot at the belt too. 170 is too deep for Dana to pull this 'the title holder is a TUF coach' bullshit. You basically shelf the weight class for six or seven months until a title fight happens.

Welp. Hughes v Serra is going on in December and they will have at least 3 months before they are allowed to fight again (if they aren't affected by major injuries) so the earliest the WW Belt can be contested again will be about March-April.

Not that I think GSP should HAVE to fight again to prove he deserves a title shot but schedule-wise wouldn't it be better to keep the contenders active and sharp?

Ohh Blix, I really like the idea of seeing GSP fight Karo again but Karo is fighting TBA at UFC 76 in November.

I agree Karo should be in line for a Title shot but in the mean time who is a good matchup for him in November. Should be a Top 10 WW...

What a weird jam we have at the top of the WW division... so many potential contenders.

Dana just said on Ferrall that the next fight for GSP is the winner of the Hughes/Serra fight, although he also said that GSP wants a fight before that one, like Chuck did when he was waiting for the winner of the Ken/Tito fight.
