Won't happen, and wouldn't really be fair to him, but the one thing I like is that I think the division is so exciting if he isn't there, that it would be fun to have some title matches amongst the top 4-5 in the division but it would just be a paper champ cause gsp has been so dominant over everyone no one would buy these guys as the actual champ while gsp "builds his way up".
Additionally condit or whoever the champ was would be calling for gsp to prove they are the champ. 
I get what you're saying but a one night, two fight welterweight tournament for the belt would be cooler:
Fight 1: GSP v. Diaz
Fight 2: Kampmann v. Condit
Otherwise, if someone wants the champ's belt, they can just take it from him ... in the Octagon.
