After being released from the WSOF in early 2014, Melvin Guillard signed with the World Series of Fighting and fought twice, winning his debut then losing a title fight in a split decision. Guillard requested to be released from the organization and later signed with Bellator MMA. Guillard recently spoke to MMAFighting about his time in the organization and why he was unhappy there:

"I'm already ready. I'm still in the gym right now, keeping my weight down," Guillard says. "I'm not as heavy as I was before. So my main thing right now is to make weight easy and give all the naysayers something to not talk about.
"People don't understand what goes on with fighters. We're human. When you're depressed and you really don't want to be somewhere, hey, you don't really give it your all. That's all I can say. Yeah, I feel bad about myself. I gave up an opportunity of a lifetime to fight for a title. But you know what? When I get a chance to fight for the Bellator title, fight my teammate Will (Brooks), if that day comes, I'll be ready."
Wonder why they don't just hire even a part time editor for ug blog stuff? Serious question. It's incredibly rare that there isn't a glaring error in any ug blog article whether it's original or quoted from other source which makes it even more puzzling. How often times is the headline wrong even lol? Just hard to understand I suppose when your talking bout one of the most visited mma sites out there. Apparently it's not that important considering all of the comments recently pointing this out.
Jokes aside depression and mental health are such massive issues and I'm sure given the emotional stress of fighting and the amount put into training, I suspect that a lot of fighters have massive issues with managing the emotional stress of fighting.

Depends on the level of depression. If you're just unhappy with your job and going through the motions that is one thing but clinical depression will produce a level of chronic fatigue where you won't even be able to train at all.
