Felt like I had some nasty indigestion @ work so when I arrived home I hit the sack. I awakened about 45 minutes later with a feeling that a freakin' hippo had a kesagatame locked on me. I started walking around the house and then my teeth started aching, I developed a thin layer of sweat across my shoulders/chest and my hands felt like it was 40 degrees in the house.
So I woke the old lady up and said, "I think I'm having a fuggin' heart attack". So I gulp a couple of aspirin and we head off to the urgent care joint in Brighton, MI. On the way I get pissed about something and my little girl Brooke reprimanded me, "You are going to have to chill out Dad". Tremendous advice to a fella with one foot in the grave and the other slipping on a bananna peal.
We arrive at the urgent care and they determine immediately that I am having a heart attack. The doctor leans over my and says, "Do not be frightened Mr. Lamb but you have had a heart attack". I told him I was not frightened. In fact, I wasn't thinking about religion either being cognizant that heaven didn't want me and hell was afraid I would take over. So I was safe. The doc then inquiries of me, "On a scale of 1 to 10 where would you place your pain right now?" I responded, "about a two". He said, "Well, I'm going to give you a little morphine-----" at which time I immediately interrupted him with, "I MEAN A SEVEN!!!!!"
They next throw my ass in a helicopter and fly me to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor and roll me into the cath lab where they determined one of my main arteries was 100% blocked and two others were approx. 80 - 85% blocked. They completely cleared out the artery that was 100% blocked and inserted a "stent" to keep it open. I have to return in three weeks to have the other two taken care of.
The doc advised I should not get off the couch for three weeks and that is going to drive me nutz. He said "live and fight another day Mr. Lamb".
I have some heart damage but it is in an area of the heart that has a great chance to heal itself if I play the game right - which I sure will.
They released me this morning.
Shit, its good to be alive!
Note: Hey I just noticed I mis-spelled Wednesday in the thread title!! WTF do ya expect - I went to Catholic schools.
I seldom pray but today you are in mine. Sounds like you are doing well considering. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Take of yourself bud.
Damn bruz, That had to have been crazy..Those stents save lives man..My dad has 2 in his ticker..Glad to know you made it through!! Where you conscious on the chopper ride? Dont they strap you to thre outside of it, on the side? Hell that alone would have given me a heartattack..
Yup, I thought I had indigestion a couple of times at work over the weekend but it would disappear and I wouldn't give it a second thought. My cholestrol was normal and an EKG showed nada 8 months ago. There also are no heart problems in my family. I thought I was in pretty decent shape albeit I am 5'10", 225.
Punk,
Yeah they put in one of those drug laced stents and according to the cardiologist they only have a 2% failure rate. The bruise on my inner thigh is a spectacular vista of black, purple and blue splashed across my pale, Irish skin. Yeah buddy I was expecting the Valkyries to show up at any minute.
John,
Thanks! I need more prayers than Constantine.
Q,
I wanted to call ya but I couldn't get your number. Jessey and John came yesterday and stayed for a long time. John brought his 2 year old son Carter. Kid is a fuggin' tank. I nodded off once and John pulled the sheet up about 24 inches right above my wang and then called the nurse and asked if they slipped me viagra!
I am going to drop the nose tackle and pick up a look like a hard hitting safety, watch my diet, etc.
That damn hospital bed gave me such a backache I can hardly stand straight now. Couple that with my aching r-knee and I move around like a fuggin' cripple.
"nodded off once and John pulled the sheet up about 24 inches right above my wang and then called the nurse and asked if they slipped me viagra!"

(stayed at this chicks house last night who I have been trying to score forever..Anyway, we get back to her house and the last two drinks start spinning my head..She says "come up stairs", so I hop on her bed and she goes into bathroom..While she is in there preppin, Im so drunk I fell asleep..hahaha)..god i suck..I wake up this morning and she dropped me off at work..I had to work all day in my new shoes,pants,etc..Woulda been worth ruining if i got anything out of it..LOL..Again, I suck.
I'm glad you made it through man. That is some scary shit.I hope you get back to 100% soon.Like John said I don't pray very often but I will say some for you.
Clogged arteries tend to be asymptomatic until they're over 70% closed.
The problem with stents is that the causes of atherosclerosis are not eliminated. Even CABG don't eliminate the causes, and if one doesn't change his diet, weight, exercise, etc., the arteries will quickly reclog and need more stents or CABG's.
May I ask why they did an EKG on you last year? Did you have any symptoms of heart disease? What was your blood pressure and pulse?
You really are lucky. From what you said, you will most likely recover 100% and probably be better than you once were, since your asymptomatic arteries will be opened after all the stents go in.
The EKG was part of my annual physical. I have been taking blood pressure medication for 30 years. About 5 months ago they switched me from Norvasc to Lotril. Now I am taking about 4 or 5 different meds to help in my recovery.
For sure I am going to have a healthy diet and make cardio part of my daily routine after I heal some. I'm 55 and have an eight year daughter so I have to stay alive and well.
The doc said my heart is pumping blood at 50 and that normal is 55 so he was pleased with that but I am not sure what it means.
I sure hope I come back strong and I sure am going to do whatever it takes.
I know that you're a tough bastard but please listen to the advice your doctors are giving you. We need you around this forum to keep the trolls under control.
My thoughts and prayers are with you my brother.
Shit, I hurt my back lifting on Friday and the last two days have been annoying, I couldn't imagine 3 weeks!
Sounds like you have a plan, and this heart attack will only make you stronger! I look forward to reading about your progess and good luck on the recovery!
