Happy 4/16! New Rifle

Finishing up this HK416D 14.5 CAG clone I built that has been about a year in the making.Figured I would celebrate early on such an appropriate day. It's been a really fun but expensive build. It still needs the corect front sight and hope I can get a PEQ later this year if things turn around. I couldn't source the anodized G33 or the tanodized Wilcox since they are hens teeth, but its good enough for me and maybe I will find em later down the road. Cant wait to go shoot it!

That’s great.   Good job.  I guess I didn’t realize that HK lower receiver is available to the public?

Its a BRN-4 lower (HK casting machined out by brownells) that I had Type III clear anodized and then laser engraved

But there are real 416 pistol lowers available if you have a spare $6k

I hear that there isn’t much difference in the machining - that’s from a HK expert Tommybuilt

Only two areas I can tell which is right at the top of the mag release bulge where the lower and upper meet. Then some of the lowers did not have the fronts machined correctly to look like HK around the pin area. Its all asthetic

They also fucked up the coloring of the selector. I scraped mine out and used modeling paint

Damn, that's outstanding. Would you mind going through some of the parts you used?

Thanks!

I have a 417 kit I need to start up now. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with it yet and I suspect its going to take a lot longer to build. Plus the company Brownells contracted to machine those lowers and barrels dropped the ball unfortunately.

Nice!
