Roy Harris is considered to be one of the finest martial arts instructors in the world. He is well known for his proficiency in leg locks, and his extremely crushing holddowns.
Mr. Harris was awarded his 2nd Degree Black belt in Brazilian JiuJitsu in 2001 by Professor Joe Moreira, and has studied over 20 different martial arts in depth, including Sambo, Judo, and other grappling arts. He is also a Senior Instructor in JKD under Paul Vunak.
Roy has taught a variety of topics to thousands of individuals, including very successful MMA fighters, law enforcement, civilians, women's self-defense workshops, college clubs, military, and many many schools all over the world.
His many long-term students have included reknowned-instructor & BJJ Black Belt Michael Jen, MMA fighter and BJJ Brown Belt Matt Stansell, BJJ Brown Belt and successful school owner Kyle Saunders, among MANY others.
Make plans NOW to attend this seminar, if you would like to see, feel, and experience the finest in grappling instruction on some very popular topics!!!
Adam - does Roy have any tapes/articles available on pins or pin escapes?
His BJJ 101 video shows some basic escapes from a variety of pins. They are very technical in orientation, and should be in any grappler's library regardless of style, in my opinion. But - what we will cover at the seminar will move beyond those shown on the video (which briefly covers Kesa Gatame, and never mentions North/South and Knee-on-stomach (or chest) position.
For articles, go to his website (www.royharris.com) and run a search, and it will come up with all articles containing your search word (there are at least a few specifically on the topic, I believe).
It should be noted that, although this seminar is largely marketed to BJJ practitioners, Judo and Sambo players will also find benefit!! Roy's footlocks come from Sambo, and the pin positions we are covering come from Judo originally, anyway.
(I think Judo calls "North/South" the "4 corners holddown"?)
gordinho, roy harris's bjj 101 and 201 are excellent! Every grappler should be required to own the set imo.
Saturday is the last day for pre-reg discounts!
I attended a 2 day seminar with Roy Harris and came away impressed with his depth of knowledge and articulation of the details.
take advantage of the opportunity to add to your game
BJJ Brown belt Kyle Saunders is available for a limited number of private lessons as well. Email me (email@example.com) to schedule one.
Should have a good turnout today (room for a couple more people, though).
Sunday there is still room for several people - who wants to come learn footlocks and entries from one of the best footlock artists in the world????
