Has anyone EVER seen Okami HANDLED like that?

Has anyone ever, EVER seen Okami get HANDLED like that? I've never seen him made to look like an amateur before. My god, Anderson is so amazing. Just amazing.

NEXT. Phone Post

same goes for henderson, vitor, franklin..........

Okami fought a very stupid fight. I get working him against the cage, that worked ok for him, but as a wrestler, HE NEEDED TO WORK FOR TAKEDOWNS.

Very dumb. Anderson looked great in the second, but Okami behaved like a fool.

chael completely owned okami too

nobones - Fighters that have the skillset and style to give Anderson Silva potential problems in MW, LHW classes:

Chael Sonnen*
Mark Munoz*
Rashad Evans*
Thiago Silva
Jon Jones*
Lyoto Machida
Nate Marquardt
Dan Henderson
Phil Davis
King Mo*
Jacare Souza*
Rousimar Palhares
Chris Weidman*

The fighters I marked with an asterisk have the highest chances of beating him.  Guys like Shogun, Vitor, Lil Nog, Tito, Bisping, Kennedy, Wanderlei, Stann, etc. don't have the tools to keep Anderson out of his comfort zone which is using his stand up skills.  Those fighters are either too predictable with their takedowns or too much sloppy brawlers or unrefined strikers and would most likely get lit up by Anderson with the exception of Shogun and Stann and Lil Nog who might put up a decent stand up fight with him for at least a few rounds.

i think shogun would be a good bet iron jaw , great striking , great ground and decent takedowns the guy took chuck down prety easy

i didn't read all the replies so this might have been mentioned.

was i the only one that thought he looked a little less in shape than usual? not overweight, actually he appeared a little sucked out during fight. at least to me he did.

I don't ever get surprised anymore when Anderson owns someone and makes them look like an Ammy. You can't. Anderson is THAT good. It's a shame though because I really like Yushin a lot and was hoping if he couldn't win at least he'd have a great showing.

I'd love to see a japanese champion though.

I was surprised that so many people gave Okami a good chance of winning this fight. For some reason, Japanese fighters rarely perform well in significant UFC matches. That being said, the only reason that Okami had a W against Silva on his record was due to Silva being DQ'd, not because he was beating him.

yeah Silva was easily winning that first fight. But I don't think anyone thought he'd lose because of that match.

Shogun would get destroyed... You need a wrestler/jiu jitsu guy to take him down. I dont think anyones striking can compare to Silvas.

Henderson could beat him imo!

Humphrey - yeah Silva was easily winning that first fight. But I don't think anyone thought he'd lose because of that match.

You'd be surprised at what the Silva haters think.

Some of these morons actually thought Okami was WINNING their first fight and that Okami would win again because of it.

He tried to work for takedowns. He got owned. He tried to clinch. He got owned. After he realized he couldn't take Anderson down, i think he lost heart. He realized he was outclassed.

It's not that he DIDN'T try takedowns. It's that Anderson DIDN'T ALLOW him via distance, timing and attacks. He confused Okami out there. Which is why even the greatest wrestlers and Olympic wrestlers can't even beat him. Anderson destroys them all. Phone Post

Okami fought the way he always fights pretty much.  Okami isn't a freestyle wrestler.  He is more of a Greco-Roman/Judo style player that likes to wear you down from the clinch and dominate you with a throw or a takedown.  His stand up is solid, but very predictable.  He throws a single jab and waits to see how you are going to react before following up...so simple enough for someone like Anderson to counter.  This was not that far off from what I thought would happen in this fight.  Okami always likes to stand at jabbing distance and see if you will try to counter or open yourself up for a clinch or a takedown...it's a very stoic, almost passive style and not a very good style to use against someone like Anderson who relies on having enough time to figure out your timing.  Okami was never going to come in throwing overhands and charging in for a power double leg like Chael Sonnen that's not his style, it never was and probably will never be the way he fights.  He tried to impose his clinch on Anderson but Anderson was able to keep underhooks and was able to defend Okami's double leg against the fence.  There's not a lot of fighters above 170 lbs. that have the wrestling talent and striking skills and know how to apply pressure the way Chael does at such a high level in MMA.  I don't think I could even name 15 fighters between both weight classes.  Okami is not one of those fighters.  Most of those guys are at 170 lbs. and below like GSP, Frankie Edgar, Grey Maynard, BJ Penn, etc.

Agreed, great assessment, i thought the same thing going in, Okami just isnt aggressive/explosive enough to close the distance. He had his chance with the clinch, he should have made more of it but Anderson also has his skills in the clinch.

Okami is probably good enough to be competitive with 90% of the weight class but he doesnt have the style to beat Andy.

Vitor would probably blow him out too but then again, Vitor can be worn down.

DSaint -  Chael physically dominated Okami. Tossed him around like he was nothing.

Chael dominated Okami, yes.

But Okami got back up from every single td iirc. That isnt complete physical domination.
