the geek - I mean this in all seriousness, i'm not trying to be disrespectful at all.
The guy is an absolute beast of a fighter. It's not a stretch to say he will one day be in the top 3 GOAT's. But his metal heath is what may keep him from getting there or from making the the top dollars he claims he wants. Acting like he does do you thing Gatorade, Nike or under Armor would want to hire him as spokesman? I know he hates that stuff but it will afford him to fly in any sparing partners he want's and pay them what he want's to pay them.
I genuinely felt bad for him and believe the fact that he doesn't want to be the bad guy (it actually looked like he was going to cry when Dana said the GSP said he is the most disrespectful guy in the world).
I would love to see him get through the challenges that are holding him back from capitalizing on his strengths.
I really want to see Diaz do well in life, he is more talented at this sport than most hope to be an he should reap the rewards of this but his behavior may prevent him from doing that.
I can't wait for the fight, I'm OK if he beats GSP (but I don't think he will) because I know his is going to be one hell of a fight.
Haaaaaaater lol get over it bro
EnderTL - The mentality is a blessing and a curse. It motivates him to be the best, but also throws in a few roadblocks. I think he is somewhat deluded as to what his public image is... he does genuinely seem surprised when people peg him as a "bad boy". I'm not sure why that is, but I think it has something to do with the people he's been surrounded by. It seems like they do a lot of ego stroking for him, but not really anything to help him mature.
Does anyone in his camp tell him when he's doing something wrong? Do they ask him to be aware of his public image, or tell him "Hey man, if you act like that people might get this impression...". It's not always easy to see yourself if no one's holding that mirror up to you and criticizing you (not always a bad thing).
Anyway, his "character" (not saying it's an act) confuses me. Like I said, he genuinely seems concerned people think he's the "bad boy" but does absolutely nothing to change their minds as soon as the camera is on him. Thanks to Layzie we have seen a bunch of videos of him acting like a normal human being around people, so maybe I'll pose this question to him if he stops by this thread.
Layzie, does Nick turn into a completely different animal on fight day than he is the rest of the time? It would seem like this might be the case.
Awesome points man. This is exactly what I'm getting at.
I might have to buy a blue name just to give you a vote up.
Cheers

I'm a hater for wanting to see the guy succeed?
WOW you can't can't win some days.
Nick has some issues for sure. He doesn't get that not everyone is against him. He missing some kind of common sense and could certainly use someone to talk to.
I'm a big BJ fan and honestly though Diaz was gonna get his ass handed to him. I'm shocked at what Diaz pulled off. He doesn't realized the enormity of his performance. He thinks he did a shitty job against someone he didnt want to fight. What he did tonight, beating the piss out of a legend, made him so marketable and gave him such potential for making $$, but he doesn't seem to get it.
I hope he figures this game out sooner than later because he has the potential to be one the most exciting fighters the sport has ever seen.
Looking forward to the GSP fight. First GSP fight in years that might be competative.

Well said sir.
I can't wait for the fight either man.
Nick could definitely benefit from a sport psychologist. But I highly doubt he'd agree to go.
He did. Punched him in the eye and said "What's up now, Bitch".
Its alright man, he grew up in the hard scrabble streets of STockton in likely a somewhat dysfuntional upbringing.
He has an obvious chip on his shoulder , he has this drive, this us against them mentality with his brother....probably a defense mechanism developed by what they went thru grwoing up as kids
He can't pay his sparring partners so what makes you think he can pay for a sports psychologist?

You are probaly correct in your analysis, it is most likely a defense mechanism but that explains he currently, not who he could be.
frederic - He can't pay his sparring partners so what makes you think he can pay for a sports psychologist?
By stoping his sled medication of weed. The money he spends on that alone could probably pay for 3 phycologists.
^^^
Self not sled... ugghhh derp.
Magnum TA - The guy has the perfect mentality for fighting. No one should be trying to change him from what he is until he decides to walk away from the sport.
I rarely agree with magnumta
But when i do, i prefer THIS
Magnum TA - Kid Yamamoto in his prime was exactly like Nick. If someone agreed to fight him he took it as insult and wanted to hurt that person badly for thinking they could win. Diaz obviously sees fighting as warfare and he is willing to engage in it to get the job done. Trying to tame him would only hurt his performance as a fighter. He obviously needs that angry edge to do his best. Fighters have different ways of motivating themselves to do the job and his way is through anger at the opponent.
You do make a good point. but look where it got Kid? He is getting KO'd left, right and center.
I don't think a Psychologist would try to remove his fire, just teach him how to control it and harness it.
But your point has value, his edge is a key element f his fighting success.
lol @ this thread, bunch of fucking weirdos. worry about yourselves, nick is fine as you can see from all the shit he does.
he's accomplished more things than anybody in this whole thread has, keep hating.

Explain how we are hating by hoping someone does well with their life?
and weirdos for tailing about mental health?
and lastly, that's pretty bold of you to say he has accomplished more than anyone here. Has he accomplished more than me athletically? Yes he has, but I have not tried to have any success athletically. I have a very healthy job and a great stable family, that is what I have focused on in life and have accomplished it 100%.
