What an odd fight. Hioki seemingly has everything to lose here, as does the UFC. If Hioki loses they lose him as a contender and I don't think even a win would elevate Lamas to immediate contender status.
The UFC must feel very confident in Hioki pulling this off. I think he takes it, but it's a dangerous game to play.
Why dangerous? Hioki wasn't that expensive or a big marquee star yet. He might get the Okami treatment for a while

I see them giving Koch the title shot against Aldo in Brazil, then either the winner of TKZ/Poirier or Hioki if he beats Lamas. They could also be trying to save Hioki for a title fight on the next Japan card.
