LOL wow.  When /pol/ says it's too creepy, that's pretty damning.

Looks like an empowering TV show for my 10-year old daughter.

Netflix apologizes for the ad image, but is still moving forward with it?

BarkLikeADog - ^^It is French, written by a French Senegalese woman analogizing her life experiences bridging the gap between two extreme cultures. It is a Sundance Film Festival jury award winner. I haven't seen it but my understanding is that it is critical of both extremes, including the oversexualization of young girls, but let's not let that get in the way of a good uninformed witch hunt.

I will also note that no one in this thread has clutched or will clutch their pearls over the physical domestic abuse of the main character by her mother in this trailer.

I’ve heard this and without having seen the movie it is possible that the critique could be blunted IF it’s actually strongly critical of pageants and child sexualization…

However, that in NO way excuses the fucking marketing push that has clearly sexualized these young children. You can’t claim to be critical of child sexualization and exploitation while performing that very thing with mother fucking disgusting posters like the one posted in this thread. How can you say uninformed witch hunt? The witch hunt is based on the fact that there are these disgusting posters and commercials being bandied about.

'Which won an award'

Shut the fuck up Netflix. Nobody cares about awards anymore anyway.

Looks like that was Netflix’s fuck up. Child sexualization happens. Assuming it is a critique, it is a normal thing for a Sundance type film to do and certainly not the most controversial on such a subject.

If Netflix doesn't pull it I'm canceling. And by that I mean I won't use my friends Netflix account anymore.

“yeah i think the movie poster showing 11 yr old girls twerking got hold of most of our pearl clutching attn”

You mean the poster that was not in the OP, does not match the tone of the trailer nor the director’s vision, nor the official production posters, & looks like it was photoshopped by a first year redditor?

“But youre on a different level than the rest of the OG, dont worry we didnt forget that”

You mean in terms of doing due diligence before hopping on the outrage du jour lynch mob train? Yeah, I’d understood that already; it’s pretty much my main point on half the threads I post in here.

Liberal's trying time normalize pedophilia, nothing new. They're also trying to elect a pedophile president. Scary times we live in.

An OG’er on the other thread made an effort to specifically screenshot an image of a child spread eagle.

The show does seem pretty fucking suspect but the frothing from the critics here is disturbing to say the least.

Best to let these things die on their own and do the clean up after.

Here's the official synopsis of "Cuties," the latest series from Netflix:

"Eleven-year-old Amy lives with her mom, Mariam, and younger brother, awaiting her father to rejoin the family from Senegal. Amy is fascinated by disobedient neighbor Angelica’s free-spirited dance clique, a group that stands in sharp contrast to stoic Mariam’s deeply held traditional values. Undeterred by the girls’ initial brutal dismissal and eager to escape her family’s simmering dysfunction, Amy, through an ignited awareness of her burgeoning femininity, propels the group to enthusiastically embrace an increasingly sensual dance routine, sparking the girls’ hope to twerk their way to stardom at a local dance contest."

And here's the trailer:

Pedo Hollywood is going to pedo till the wheels fall off

The trailer looked descent. I don't want to join witch-hunt, and hate a movie in advance.

I live in Canada and that’s the image that was on my Netflix yesterday. Why would you defend this? Even if it is a critique, why? The sexualization is wrong no matter the subject matter. The actors are too young to play these parts.
