By looking at the first round of that title fight, I gave machida 10-9. Although, I believe he lost confidence after the cut, what if he didn't get a cut , and kept fighting with the same confidence. Would he have been able to beat jones? 
Yeah I think the cut and seeing how bad he was leaking threw his game off but a fight is a fight, and what happens happens.
reminds me of the packers/Giants game...yeah, you got to Rodgers, but he crushed you st\atistically. Machidas game plan was great, but crushed under freak talent.

Don't get me wrong, hendo is great. But he is no where as elusive as Machida.
It's going to be a while before there is an answer. There is an answer....just a matter of who fits the bill....and no one does as of now.

I don't think there's a way to consistently beat Jones - you just have to land a flush shot and hope it puts him away.
I believe Hendo's durability and KO power make him the biggest threat left, although obviously Jones would be the large favorite. But Hendo somehow always seems to land that right, and for 1.5 rounds his TDD is very good.
I don't think Rashad really has anything to offer. Evans is not durable and I don't think he'd survive Jones' offense for very long. Think that outside of Hendo, you have to go to Strikeforce for the next biggest threat, who I think is King Mo.
But King Mo is significantly behind Machida and Hendo in terms of the threat he poses to Jones, IMO. But he does have great wrestling, long reach and massive one-shot KO power. He's pretty hittable though, and not as durable as Hendo.
Other than that you have up and comers like Phil Davis and Gustafffson. But they aren't ready yet. Though personally I think Davis and Rashad is actually a very close fight and could go either way, I don't think either guy is a realistic threat to Jones.

Im going to have to disagree about Phil Davis not being a threat.
60% of Jones wins is because of his size. Compared to rampage he had 3 inches and against Shogun he had 3 inches too.
But if you put a guy, like Davis who is around the same size and jones, and at the same time have the equal athleticism. It will be a lot more balanced.
