You cant pursue a ground game if you cannot control someone on the ground.

If you take someone down and want to GNP them or submit them, if your opponent is trying to get back up, you counter that effort but trying to hold them down.

Multiple passes, mount, 2 near fight ending RNCs is also more than just trying to "hold someone down." That shows that said fighter was working to advance position and finish the fight and got dam close to it.

Grappling is the base of MMA. Why fans do not understand it in today's MMA is kinda weird.
