Thanks alot momita. A few of those articles actually have MMA and were helpful , but most pf em are about other sports. (?)
Fight stats arent what i am looking for, i am looking for stats which show PPV buy rates, ticket sales, amount of people that go to MMA events, etc..... or the legalities of said events.

I need to show em something that will make them see its potential...

PRESS RELEASE: UFC In Top 3 Attendance For '02
Published by Matthew Boone on 01/07/2003 at 02:15 PM
UFC issued the following press release:
UFC 40: VENDETTA TOPS NEVADA FIGHT ATTENDANCE; RANKS THIRD FOR ALL U.S. FIGHTS IN 2002
Ultimate Fighting Championship Drew Two of Nevada's Top Four Fight Crowds; Also Ranks Fourth, Seventh In Gate Receipts For Year
LAS VEGAS, January 6, 2002...The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) drew Nevada's largest fight crowd of 2002 when it had a total in the MGM Grand Garden Arena of 13,770 on November 22 for UFC 40: Vendetta. That sell-out crowd also ranks as the third largest total-in-arena attendance for a fighting event in the U.S. for the year. The July 20 welterweight boxing match between Vernon Forrest and "Sugar" Shane Mosley at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind., ranked first nationally with 15,775; the June 7 heavyweight boxing title fight between Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson at The Pyramid in Memphis, Tenn., was second with 15,327.
UFC 40: Vendetta also ranked as the fourth largest fight event in gate receipts in Nevada, $1,540,340.00. A second UFC event, UFC 36: Worlds Collide, held March 22 at the MGM Grand, ranked fourth for total-in-arena attendance, 8,327, and seventh in gate receipts, $898,850.00 in Nevada for the year. UFC 40: Vendetta featured the return of legend Ken Shamrock in a light heavyweight title fight against champion Tito Ortiz. Ortiz retained his title with a third-round technical knockout.
Knuckles, enlighten me a bit here, I'm interested in helping
out. Obviously it would be huge if it did get legalized, but we
should try and team up, with other UG members, and get to
the politicians. This is an awesome start, but you need a
cookie to give to the mouse. Your best bet would porbably be
getting a meeting wih someone in a position to change
things, and use that meeting to to get the #s rolling in from
the UFC and other respectable shows like AFC, Reality
Fighting or IFC.jUst a suggesiton, work from it, I could be
blowing wind. Fill me in though on the details of what you're
trying to do I'm curious. If you can track him down, a guy
named Jim Genia has been trying ot legalize MMA in NY for
some time now too
derek,
my FCF brother, if you ever need me, email me at jimgenia@hotmail.com and i'll come running.
bloodyknuckles,
what tribe are you? i took american indian law in law school, and i can tell you state law generally doesn't apply to the reservation. in other words, the pro mma ban in NYS doesn't apply to the federally recognized indian reservations. if your rez is federally recognized, you need to kick that tribal attorney in the nuts.
by the way, as the name suggests, i'm sioux. let me know if i can help out in any way.

Thanks alot, tuffnuff, Derek, Rude, Hugh and SouixNYC
Hey Hot PoGAYto, apparently, you think you know everything, but try and get some knowledge in that space between your ears. read this thread before you knock me or what I do- http://mma.tv/TUF/index.cfm?ac=ListMessages&PID=1&TID=417384&FID=1
Derek- Basically, I am not trying to legalize it in NYS. I am trying to get my Tribe to allow it and let me have an event here on the Rez. I'm just a little indian! I cant take on the whole state of NY! LOL! I do appreciate everyones help, though.
Souix, I am on the Seneca Nation Rez -50 miles south of Buffalo. Did you know when Pataki outlawed it, the Mohawks had one scheduled for 2 weeks later (Extreme fighting) and he threatened to shut theirs down too? Apparently, the law is open to interpretation. So I am trying to get the Tribe to form a commission to oversee the events and then adopt the Unified MMA Rules
Derek, I have already Spoken with the UFC, KOTC, WEC, and a couple others. Some are interested and have supplied me with some info, and allowed me to attend events, rules meetings, press conferences, etc. Most of the UFC fighters and higher ups are familiar with me.
Yes the Mohawks of Akwesasne that is, I was at the IFC event and every fighter was suppose to get arrested but it turned out they couldnt do shit. Yes we need more events here at Akwesasne. There is a casino here and im going to try and get them to have fights here.
bloodyknuckles,
the states with reservations ALWAYS try to strong arm the indians and impose their laws. this is nothing new. when the pequots were reformed in foxwoods, the state of connecticut went ballistic - but the pequots had tons of cash from the casinos behind them, so they ate connecticut's legal team for dinner.
cite these cases to the tribal attorney: McClanahan v. Arizona State Tax Commission, 411 US 164 (1973), and Williams v. Lee, 358 US 217, 220 (1959). these are US Supreme Court cases that will help you. they say, in essence, that if the tribe sets up an athletic commission to regulate mma, the state won't have a right to interfere.
