It is common, nobody cares because why should they??
You said still so I'm assuming it is because of the radiation thing? It probably is due to that but they use those masks all the time. In a place like Tokyo you will see this everyday. It is completely common even long before the meltdown. A lot of people around in general so if they have to go to offices, stores, or subways they will wear those for added protection or if they feel under the weather they will use those to prevent affecting others.
Basically, in Japan it is usually out of common courtesy to wear one of those if you're feeling ill.

I've never, ever posted on here, but that was a great interview. I met Helwani outside of Jack Dempsey's one night after the Mayweather-Mosley fight and I basically accosted him on the street to talk MMA. Good dude. If you look back at his interviews with Rampage and Nick Diaz, you'll see that he got those guys to open up in ways we've never seen.
Awesome interview, really shows how cool of a guy Rampage is. Doesn't get caught up in all the hype and stereotypes that comes with being in the fight business. He just has fun, and does what he likes to do.
