I know he has had some stick over some decisions over the last couple of months but credit where credit is due herb reff'd that fight perfectly and did a really good job.
Hats off to Herb.
Here, here!!
well the buzzer didn't go off in the cage Hammer, so he did a great job!
Hammerstein -
Except for the massive confusion he caused at the end of round 1.
That whole sequence seemed strange - iirc correctly, the clock shows Zeros. Shogun drops a later bomb, Hendo lays down like he's hurt bad, Herb seems concerned and waves his hands like the fight is over - cut to commercial - back from commercial and Hendo is fine ready to go in his corner.
Hammerstein -He didn't cause that. Nobody could hear the horn.
Except for the massive confusion he caused at the end of round 1.

No one has mentioned that Hendo grabbed the cage with both hand n herb didnt warn him or take a point. The refing in genral at the moment has been pretty suspect
He's still the best. People need to take a look at his record. Nobody is perfect but nobody gets it right more than he does.
He gets slammed for stopping fights early. But IMO most of the time people say that I think it was a perfectly legit stoppage. Say what you want but the guy is one of the best refs.

He did grab the cage but if I remember correctly he was a queer street at the time and let go right away.
Ive been a fan of his ever since Mir vs. Sylvia. He was the only person to see that arm snap. Took everyone else 5 minutes to understand what was going on.
He has had some rough stoppages. But until he gets up there with Mazzagatti he will have my trust.
newjack900 -THIS!!!!!!!!!!!! I called my brother on the phone and i was like omg i think they just called it after the first! Then commercial comes back and the fights on and i was way too excitedHammerstein -

I think he decided if it was close he was letting this one go BECAUSE of the recent backlash.
