Tomorrow I'm going to go in for inguinal open surgery on both sides.
Which basically means they're going to shave my pubes and cut open both side of my groin area to repair tears in the abdominal walls. Really nervous. This is the first major surgery I've ever had.
Anybody else had the procedure done? If so, please feel free to share your experiences and your advice on making this go as smooth as possible.
Had mine at 16, playing sports, it was ingrunial. Had some kind of muscle or bump protruding into my nutsack. Lol, but doc said it's like a 2% to 3% chance it happens again on the other and 0%-1% it happens again in the original surgery side. I'm gonna be 31 in December and haven't has a worry since.
My brother had it and I know people who had it
It sucks ass
But one important aspect you have to look at is your lifestyle and what could have possibly caused it
From heavy lifting to excessive force on your body
My brother got it cuz he started lifting weights at age 14, way too young
I say this cause believe it or not it can happen again
It's a smooth recovery but it's a bitch sneezing, laughing, coughing. I watched Rat Race that next day and thought my stitches were gonna burst. Smoke a nice indica joint after you get home and the morphine wears off. I'm not a hospital meds kind of guy. But wish you a speedy recovery sir, keep us posted.
I had it in the fourth grade. Right before they induced me the dr was saying about all the worst case scenarios and how there's always a chance you can lose a testicle or something. My parents told me the first thing I did when I came to was check everything was still there.

My parents told me the first thing I did when I came to was check everything was still there. That's my 2nd worst fear. 1st would be getting my dick accidentally sliced off.
3rd would be getting a main nerve/vein cut and having to deal with a semi-chub for the rest of my life.
You'll be fine. I had the same surgery a few years ago on a Thursday, and I was back to work on Monday. It is three small slits around your belly button. That's it. Somewhat slow going for two days, but not crazy pain.

Wait, are you doing laparoscopy or are they cutting through your groin? The latter is much worse. But I don't know why anyone would do that anymore.
MdGeist -Mind you, I was a teen when I had it done. I was young, dumb and full of testosterone. There is really no rehab for it, just gotta ease your way back into exercise. Remember, there will be scar tissue that is going to feel like you haven't stretched a day in your life EVER. Long story short, 2 to 3 weeks until you can start lifting again for exercise and rebuilding strength and rebuilding any kind of dexterity you had before.wandFC12 - It's a smooth recovery but it's a bitch sneezing, laughing, coughing. I was 16 like I said. So a lot of procedural changes may have been made, or, it could still be the same old surgery procedure. Who knows, my groin feels great 15 years and many a shag later, so I really can't complain.

I went into this thing thinking that they would use a scope and it wouldn't require a larger incision. That's what the general practitioner told me.
I went with a specialist that just did hernias so I figured the open cut was ok, but now that makes me wonder why not use a less invasive procedure.
MdGeist -Because you're a brick shit house that eats concrete and breathes fire, you'll handle it like a Triple OG and be back on the bench press the following day. Ranger Up OP, America needs you.Nostradamus32 - Wait, are you doing laparoscopy or are they cutting through your groin? The latter is much worse. I had something like that done, but I cant help you since I was like a week old when it happened lol. But what I do know is that somehow my guts were spilling into my nutsack (which was the size of a grapefruit on a newborn, pretty epic baby picture lol) and they had to cut it open and stuff it back up. Have the scar to this day 29 years later.
Too Rude -Lol, I guess it must've been a part of the intestine that makes its way into the nutsack. It's crazy but I thought I had cancer initially. Thankfully it wasn't and just needed the biodegradable mesh and wallah, like new. Must've been scarier for your parents, considering you were just a baby at the time.

Mutant - I had bilateral inguinal hernia surgery a couple months ago. They go through your belly button, your balls will be black and blue, and I couldn't get it up for 5 weeks after. All in all its not that bad after the first 48 hours with the pain meds. That and you'll be constipated because of the pain meds they give you. They prescribed me Lortabs. Lol, Not recommended for a 16 year old but whatever, I never got hooked. Just weed for this old man.
Had it young hard to walk. I had two still have two scares I show off at parties

You'd be absolutely shocked/terrified to know how often this exact thing happens. Why do you think hospital insurance rates are so high? Dudes suing hospitals after a drunk doc cuts their cock off.
How do I know this? I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
