Heroin addicts and US medical services Q

Just watching Dope and I wondered what would happen to these heroin addicts who get saved by the paramedics and taken to hospital, do they have a huge bill afterwards and then even if they turned their life around they'd be saddled with debt?

I would assume it's no different than anyone without insurance.

Honestly I have no idea what a visit to the hospital was run without insurance.

I do know the ambulance ride to the hospital will run you about $600 regardless of health insurance.

Probably not big debt. Maybe couple Grand. Although, we're talking about heroin addicts so $2,000 it's probably not getting paid off anytime soon.

So going to hospital by ambulance in America costs $600? What happens if people can't/won't pay these bills?

Collections.

That's just the ambulance ride. The hospital bill will be separate.
