Herschel Walker: Trump a great man

Former Georgia running back and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker said he plans to spend time with President Donald Trump at Monday night's national championship game between the Bulldogs and Alabama.

In an interview with Fox News on Monday morning, Walker said he's exicted that Trump will be in attendance for Monday night's game, as USA TODAY confirmed last week.

"We've talked and we're going to meet tonight," Walker said. "I haven't seen him in a while. A lot of people don't know I played for him in the USFL. We've been friends ever since. We still work together on some things — well we did before he became the big man on campus, as you may say. And so tonight, I'm excited to see him."

Walker, who was born and raised in Georgia, was a three-time consensus all-American for the Bulldogs, amassing 5,259 rushing yards and 49 touchdowns over three seasons. He won the Heisman Trophy in 1982 and then went on to play for the New Jersey Generals of the now-defunct USFL for three seasons, including two when Trump owned the team. Walker moved to the NFL in 1986 and played there through 1997.

The 55-year-old former running back has long supported Trump's political career, referring to him as "the frontrunner" in August 2015, a little less than a year before Trump earned the Republican Party's nomination. On Monday morning, Walker called Trump "a great man" and supported the president's criticism of NFL players who have taken a knee during the national anthem as a means of protesting police brutality and racial inequality.

"I'm glad he's at the game, because he loves football," Walker said on Fox News. "It's sad what's happened with all the kneeling and standing and all that, because Donald Trump is a great man, he's a great president and I wish people could understand that."

As for the game itself, Walker said he has lofty expectations for the Bulldogs.

"I think Georgia's going to surprise a lot of people," Walker said. "I think they've surprised people this whole year."

Care not about the dudes politics. He is a true freak of nature

If there is no "risk" why the fuck is this news?

Its news because a black guy said something nice about trump and whatever dumb liberal wrote this news article thinks that is newsworthy.

Walker seems like a great guy that has overcome some shit to become the success that he is. He comes off like one hell of a good dude in his interviews.

Interesting guy.

lol, interesting logic

what's the risk?

Trump does well with alpha types like Money Mayweather, Jim Brown, and Walker. They all like Trump and get along well with him.

Before Trump took down the Clintons, he had all kinds of black celebrities on his jock. It's interesting to watch the ones who come out against him, as they tend to be the ones following the orders of the white billionaires who tell them what to do.

He’s in the chicken business or something like that. He’s in several other businesses as well, but I believe that business is his main source of income.
