I don't understand you guys on here. You guys bitch every fucking time a UFC pay scale, a Strikeforce pay scale, an Elite pay scale, etc. comes out because the fighters "aren't paid enough!"
Yet, when a figure comes out like Gomi getting 190k a fight, Brock getting 500k a fight, Fedor getting 2 million a fight, etc. etc., they are over-paid.
There is no happy median with you guys. You will bitch because you can't find things to bitch about.
Why can't you guys just keep your noses out of their business. If they can get a billion dollars a fight, who are you to say they're "Not worth it". If they are getting paid 2k a fight, who are you to say "They're worth more" when THEY WERE THE ONES TO SIGN THE FUCKING CONTRACT.
Stop acting like you know what's good for the fighter when, they seem to know what they're worth and I truly doubt they would sign a contract, along with a manager, for something they are not worth.
I think that the biggest thing people have a problem with is the amount of money the UFC is making vs. what it pays out, especially to the lower tier guys. I think anyone at the UFC level should be able to afford to fight full time. Then again, if they'd let them fight more than 2-3 times a year, that'd help.
What I dont understand though is, if this is truly a problem with the fighters, why don't they take a stand? You have guys like Randy and Tito that are doing so but, they have made MILLIONS off the exact company that they are bashing.
So, I don't really understand.
They are basically saying "You fighters that want to make a name for yourself, there is a limit to what you can do!" when, in reality, they themselves have made a fortune and were once at the exact point the younger fighters were at.
So, I guess what I don't understand is, if the company is making a ton of money and you have one or 2 guys bitching while 200 guys aren't, I don't see much room for complaint I guess.
What's better is that people complain that fighter A and fighter B don't get paid enough yet those same people don't pay for PPVs and/or complain about price increases.
"What's better is that people complain that fighter A and fighter B don't get paid enough yet those same people don't pay for PPVs and/or complain about price increases. "
Great thread. Zuffa put a ton of the profits back into the company. Their production on the PPV is so much better than any of their competitors- even Pride. I know that Pride is a better live show but the PPV paled in conparison to the UFC.
I used to think that Dana was going to implode and take the UFC with him. I guess I was as wrong as you can be. The guy loves the sport and only has one question for those who he employs at the UFC as fighters...DO YOU WANT TO BE A F*CKING FIGHTER?
It's a valid question. Those that do and do it well get paid well but you have to prove yourself first.
