If Barnett's wildy overrated, tell me what you think of Frank Mir?
Do you think beating the ever so heralded grappling wizard and multi-dimensional fighter Antoni Hardonk and a GREEN UFC debutant Lesnar is any more worthy of getting his shot at Nog than beating quality challenges like Monson, Rizzo, and Yvel would be for Barnett deserving his shot at Fedor?
Please, tell me fighters you consider not overrated, oh wise Danny of the Ocean! If you say Mir, I will LOL @ you.
Mir beating Nog, Sylvia, and the only guy to beat Lesnar deserves it's props, but Barnett fights a pretty steady stream of quality, opponents more often than Mir.
What separates Barnett from Mir, is he only loses to quality opponents whereas Mir will lose handily to D levelers like Ian Freeman or C leveler Heavyweights like Brandon Vera who has proven that he's almost worthy of B- level activity as a Light Heavyweight, LMAO!

HAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!!! You use the logic of Mir beating Nog with ease in 2008 (You not coming to terms with the clear fact that Nog is battle worn) meaning he could automatically beat Barnett?
Are you saying he would submit Barnett? Possible, but I think Barnett dominates him on the ground.
If you're saying his fight with Nog proved he would KO Barnett or something like that, then you just proved that your join date means your new to MMA, have only been watching MMA for 6 months at the very least, and have no fucking clue what you're talking about.
Liddell beating Wanderlei should've given Liddell an edge against Rampage in a 3rd fight, right? Nope, Wanderlei gets knocked the fuckout by Rampage this time too, LMAO! You know why? It's because MMA is a battlefield that changes with time and one thing happening one day, does not mean it will happen the next, but I can with confidence say that Mir would never, ever, ever come close to beating Barnett.
The Nog that fought Mir is not the same Nog that fought Barnett.
If you can't see that by watching both fights, and thinking objectively... can't help you.
BTW, both Barnett and Mir are good.
Barnett would prob beat Mir.
if i wanted to read essays of terrible MMA analysis i'd go to sherdog
keep it succicnt, bro
FRAT. Got halfway through and ran out of time or got bored. Can't remember.
I'd LOVE to see Barnett/Mir.
Mir looked like a changed fighter. That was an awesome performance against Nog.

Gee that's great. Well how about I claim that every big name opponent that Barnett beat "wasn't the same" when he fought him.
You can't have a win not count because the fighter he beat "didn't look good".
JB's biggest win was an SD over Nog that was later avenged.
MIR Stopped Nog!
This is a great strategy though. If you be-little every top fighter in the UFC HW division, then no UFC fighter could be top dog.
E.g. Brock could beat the previous #3 HW (Couture) and the guy who destroyed the #2 HW (Mir) and still barely be top 5. Because Randy was "old" and Nog "didn't look that good" and Mir "Is overrated"
I thought beating top guys made you a top guy. Not beating them when they "look good"
unless your name is fedor, Josh would definitly kick your ass. lol at kenny florian vs. josh. thats remedial to even discuss.
Thanks inf0. Glad to hear that from you. I wouldn't be surprised if Lesnar beat Barnett. I'd give Lesnar a better chance of beating Barnett than any UFC Heavyweight. Not saying all UFC Heavyweights are bad here, but I'm simply saying that I think Barnett's way better than Mir and hasn't shown the propensity to lose to shitty fighters like Mir does. Every time Barnett has lost, it's been to an opponent where that was viewed as a distinctly good possibility at the time. Mir on the other hand, has a propensity to lose to guys that he should beat with ease or at least not get thoroughly worked by like he has.
Simply put, Mir is a quality fighter that has the means to beat a lot of guys yet can't even get consistent to always even get by C level fighters. He also doesn't thoroughly beat tough opponents as often as Barnett, Nog, or Fedor. He simply doesn't face that tough of opponents all the time.
I'm not saying they're all not tough, but just take these fights:
Tank Abbott (Regardless of him being thought as standing a good chance of beating Mir at the time, it's not a quality opponent and a gimme)
Roberto Traven (Great BJJ practitioner, but great MMA fighter?) I mean fuck, he went on to get KO'd by the king of Rock 'N' Rumble and greatest can out there, Elvis Sinosic in his very next fight, LMAO.
A good amount of his opponents have losing records or very shitty ones. You have to give it to him that he faced quality opponents in 2008, but given that Lesnar was green and in his UFC debut at the time, this doesn't really help Mir's chances in their rematch.
Mir = Over Rated. He's lost to a shit ton of people.
Barnett lost to Mino, Rizzo, Cro Cop. He also beat Rizzo in a rematch and beat mino the first time.
Barnett = no.2 in the world , ppl need to get over it.

Are you serious?
The reality is, Ryo Chonan is no where near any ranking today. But according to you, he beat ASilva, so his win should just be as important as say.... Franklin or Henderson's would have been in 2007 had they won.
According to me, ASilva was not the same fighter when Chonan beat him, so his win is not particularly relevant.
Who is right?
(hint: not you)
Fact: Nog looked like complete ass against Frank Mir.
Do you just look at results? (ex, Frank KOed Nog!)
Or do you read between the lines? Did you watch the fight? Do you have any ability to judge/analyze fighter performances? Have you won any money in fight gambling? If Barnett were to fight Mir tomorrow, would you take Mir?

LOL at this logic.. its making my head hurt
