$hitty UFC ppv statistic question

How long has it been, since UFC had a pay per view where the main card didn't feature at least 1 Ultimate fighter contestant?

I gave up trying to find this answer at 145. From 145 to current, every main card on a pay per view has featured at least 1 TUF fighter.

I would just like to get a timeframe or general timeframe of when UFC thought putting reality tv show fighters on pay per views featuring them alongside proven top talent, was a good idea.

It's not a retorical question. Seriously, when did UFC start using TUF fighters on ppv slots?

Aare you counting guys like Koscheck, Diego, Forrest, Rashad, Florian, etc? Because I'd imagine that started when TUF season 1 ended.

Have you seen how much money and how big of a name Kos has got? His best win is Diego Sanchez, got a title shot off of Anthony Johnson and Paul Daley.

Theyre going to push tuf guys because people know them. I dont see how this isnt a smart thing to do either. Phone Post

You didn't really look back very far....
Took me 5 seconds to find out 142 and 140 both didn't include TUF alum on the main card. So 2 out of the past 10 events, which is surprising considering how many stars that show has built.

Also, I'm pretty sure TUF proved quite awhile ago that they do generate proven top talent, despite being a reality tv show.

Lauzon, Diaz, Forrest, Rashad, Diego, Koscheck, Swick, Bonnar, Florian, Manny, Bader....all of these guys are proven top-talent and are main card material, yet because they were on a tv show, you respect them less? The fuck.

Early TUF did have some solid fighters as proven by what they've done against top guys.

Lauzon=awesome and main card ppv worthy every time

Same goes for Nate Diaz and Diego Sanchez

Forrest and Rashad ended up being top guys, although a short reign, still proved worthy of main card status for sure.

Swick, Bonnar, Manny, Bader, none of them imo are main card worthy, with Bonnar being the exception depending on who his opponent would be.

But again, early tuf DID have some solid fighters so some of the guys listed are the exception.

Oh, and Vinny M, maybe I'm just biased, but I see him being able to reach top 5, top 3 status.

does 151? it's a shitty undercard, but not because of TUF.

140 and 142 were solid to great cards.

Especially 140.

How did Bonnar get to be "main card worthy" while Bader and Swick are not?

Nobody cares about shitty undercards or stacked cards other than hardcore fans and the press. This event will do triple the buyrate of previous stacked cards like UFC 136.

Stars > Stacked cards. All you need is Jon Jones and a big name like Dan Henderson.

...you say Bonnar is the only one of "Swick, Bonnar, Manny, Bader" who deserves main card status but....
-Bader has fought for #1 contendership twice and holds wins over Lil Nog and Rampage
-Swick has fought for #1 contendership at WW and was beasting everyone at MW before the Okami fight/his stomach problems.
-Manny fought FOR the featherweight title, and beat former champ Mike Brown when Mike was still fresh off his reign as champ.

All of those guys have comparable or better resumes than Bonnar. Bonnar just has a fun fight style. Phone Post

I think hes saying depending on who bonnar is fighting... Meaning if you put soneone willung to go to war in the cage with bonnar, its going to br a war... Thys main card worthy Phone Post

Swick has a ton of impressive finishes, Bonnar does not. Bader KO'd Vinny and Jardine.

Anyway, to answer OP's question, they probably decided putting TUF guys on PPV cards was a good idea when TUF made the sport explode into a new era of record-setting PPV buys.

Solid arguments.  I'm not against lumping Bonnar back in there with the rest you mentioned as not being main card worthy.

But he did hang with Jon Jones who is a stud, and as you stated, he has an exciting style, arguably more exciting than the rest mentioned, especially Bader.
