Due to obligations as a husband and father I can't train everyday like I used to. So in order to get my training fix I'm turning my garage into a dojo. I'm buying a dollamar 10×10 wrestling mat. Is this and a partner all I would need to get a decent training night in. I'm will still be going to my current gym just not as often. My gym will lend me a grappling dummy but I've never used one. Suppose I could put a gi on it and practice chokes.
Making a garage gym was the best investment I ever made.
garage gym and good training partner(s)=success
I have a 10x10 mat. My kids love it, good drilling for me, too small for real training.

Agree with this. My 10 x 10 works for drilling but is too small for live rolling.

But a 10x10 and a "submission master" dummy is a great set up for home training.
I routinely use a number of techniques that went directly from YouTube to live rolling in class because of this set up.
I found a 30ft roll of Dollamur mat on craigslist so I now have a 10x18 mat space in my garage. Definitely an awesome addition. I do with wish it was 12x18 or even 15x18 but it all works pretty well.
Thanks guys. My training partners will be my two brothers and a old training partner. All of us have muay thai, mma, and bjj experience. Two of us are blue belts. Should be good training.
I have a small group of friends that meet at a guys house and roll in his garage on a 12x12 mat on Saturday mornings. As long as you watch out for each other and stop when you are getting close to the edge, they work great.
Know of any mat brands that sell 15'x15' or 12'×12' mats? I've only seen 10×10.
The 12x12 we have is cobbled together from pieces of other mats, it did not come that way
Synado - This is relevant to my interest. I got a Dollamur Flexiroll Mat and I love them. If you live in Florida let me know. I am also a dad with a home gym and I need a drilling partner.
I would but I'm from Texas. Hope you find a reliable person.
I would grab a yoga ball or two for solo drills. Also grab some elastic bands to work judo with resistance. I really want to get a TRX set up since you can do a lot without needing lots of space. I also reckoned Galvao's drills book.

Great ideas! I have bands and one swiss ball. Never thought of that.
I've got a 13.5x18 Dollamur, fantastic investment for me. (Same deal, father of 2. No time for class)

Nice! Do you find tire tracks lesson the life of the mats?
I don't drive on them
