Count chocula would have you believe Ronda's is the best boxer in the world but her only KO from her hands was after a Judo throw.(Alexis Davis)
Ronda's striking looks ok but she looks hittable imo. Left hook is there all day after a jab or a cross.
Can any pro's out there comment on her striking? Should we be more impressed?
Maybe her Judo is just so good, it outshine's her hands. Or maybe she's a one trick pony.
Her striking is pretty damn good for someone who spent their whole life grappling.

I agree, she's got good hand speed, I just worry about her defence. She always looks in a hurry, I wonder what will happen if she ever get's countered.
Also, I got great odds betting on Rousey to win in the 2nd. - 5dimes. Hopefully Betch can last more than 5 minutes.

from Miesha? I should re-watch those fights.
Since coming to the UFC Ronda has proven that she is way more than just a judoka with a nasty armbar. I feel she has done a great job of displaying her arsenal of skills against a group of tough girls that get shit on constantly for not being "up to par".
The level of her striking doesn't even matter to me. It's not her technique, it's not something that she learned or was taught. What makes her so damn dangerous is her natural ability to just take advantage of situations and go for the kill all without having the recklessness of someone like a Leonard Garcia.
When you hear the term "The Eye of the Tiger" that perfectly describes Ronda imo. She is just super game and her focus is incredible. Right now Cyborg is her only legit challenge.
ShootProod -She has taken some shots no doubt but has never hesitated after. He is a mauler of a woman. Like her personality or not, she is what we all love in a fighter.andyman011 -ShootProod -She has gotten countered, she walks through it like cainSir Psycho Sexy - Her striking is pretty damn good for someone who spent their whole life grappling.

No matter how much the UFC spends, no matter how they frame these fights for the TMZ crowd, these Ronda fights aren't two warriors at the top of their game ala Rory vs. Robbie.
Sara McMann is a life-long athlete just like Ronda. Kaufman (turned pro in 2006), Davis/Tate (turned pro in 2007) and Zingano (2008) all had significant head starts over Ronda in terms of pro MMA experience. Bethe is the first opponent Ronda has faced that is less experienced than her.

That's a joke btw ^ compared to some of these girls Ronda has nasty hands. Which she will prove tonight.
She smashed her with a right hand that stunned her. Judo throw was like throwing a dummy because she was half out. But Ronda has shown no head movement and back head placement in her fights so we shall see

I agree that, like most MMA fighters. Ronda's strike-avoidance skills are shit. For some reason, avoiding getting punched in the face is viewed as cowardly in MMA circles (IMO that comes from the Muay Thai influence in the sport). It's the reason most boxers and boxing afficianados scoff at MMA striking. Hopefully, the next evolution in MMA striking will be fighters embracing defensive concepts and abandoning the rock-em-sock-em robots approach to striking.
Ronda has admitted her boxing isn't perfect technique but its perfectly adapted to her and the other skills she has. I haven't seen anyone else KO an opponent and grab them, knee them and judo throw them before they can fall before.

If Cyborg is the standard then why is there never a mention how much she gets hits with her hands down around her waist with zero head movement and footwork, while standing directly in front of her opponent delivering wildly inaccurate, looping punches? Cyborg has some of the worse technique in wmma and its the only thing she can do. If anyone doubts it, go watch her muay thai fight against Baars and see how she does against a woman that knows how to strike back.
I see her as the only real fighter and somewhat athlete at 135 save McMann but her skills haven't translated that great. All the other girls are basically fitness models who can make more fighting imo. That's why the gap is so big.
Miriam Nakamoto
she can scrap fine but she does get tagged quite a bit. watch her fight against Meisha she used to lift her chin up quite a bit. I am sure she has worked on that though and hasnt had a chance to show it the past few fights.
trobinson21 - It doesn't really matter when you're fighting chicks who were bartenders and college students 4 years ago.Bullshit. Alexis Davis is a blackbelt in BJJ with a good amount of training. Miesha wrestled in high school and has been training ever since. Sara McMann was an Olympic silver medalist.

GSP did not start wrestling until later years and ended up dominating because of it. There are guys in MMA with not a ton of experience doing very well. Yeah Ronda obviously has an advantage training judo her whole life. But there are now chicks out there that have been training BJJ their whole life. Or boxing. Why aren't they world champs? Ronda is special.
