is there really a better hw striker than Pat Barry..? we've seen him tool several k1 level strikers (hardonk,kongo,cro-cop). i'm sure everyone is gonna argue overeem, but has he faced those kinds of strikers in mma..?
Barry had a lot of trouble with Beltran. Maybe just a weird standup style matchup...but I've got JDS and Overeem over him for sure.
he has great kicks but his hands are weak. like the guy but there are tons of guys with better hands.

Wow. The guy beats Morecraft and now he is the best HW striker? I like Barry but come on. In a division where guys like Overeem, JDS, Cain and Carwin exist, i just cant see Pat Barry being THE BEST striker in his talent filled division. There is no doubt in my mind that any of those guys i listed above could KO Barry standing.

He did KO someone with punches last night, I wouldn't really say his hands suck. He just focuses alot on leg kicks, hence the tree trunks.
I love HD, and I hope he continues to improve, because he's a joy to watch!

funny how no one mentioned morecraft. i can see the debate for overeem,but jds,cain and carwin? have any of those guys trained striking for as long as barry? of have any of them shown the ability to end the fight w/ a kick? or even THROWN a kick? striking isn't just throwing bombs...
Pat B. has a natural disadvantage with the hands, not because he doesn't have power or technique it's IMO due to his reach advantage almost all other fighters have a reach advantage of 4" he faces I think HD realizes legs are a equalizer but if he can get inside he has shown his hands have KO potential. Plus he's improving every fight.
I love frank Mir but in no way does he have better hands than HD
i only threw Mir on the list cuz he's implementing a jab into his game... not sure why everyone overlooks it but all the great fights these days have one (not saying mir is great) and HD doesn't... he's stuck in the Chuck era of over hand rights.

Yeah, but he even got shots in on Struve. Barry is a very good striker with serious power and technique. He knows how to slip and close distances. Pure kickboxing, only Reem can hold a candle at heavyweight. I haven't seen JDS kick, so I don't' know about him.
I was still disappointed he let himself get in some bad situations last night. He needs to stop getting taken down in the first place ala Chuck. Second, he needs to be able to get out of mount and get up without relying on the other guy making mistakes by being too high on the back, etc.

People seem to have forgotten about mark hunt. His standup looks so natural that sometimes it looks like he isnt even trying.
JDS has better boxing than pat imo. I think overeem is slightly better than him too.
Barrys striking sometimes looks a bit wierd but i think thats just because he throws everything 100%.

If Barry was to step into a striking only match with any one of those guys he would lose...
Many heavy weights are better strikes than Barry. They've already been listed.
But the thing is: Barry is short, stocky, and that's an inconvenient body type for high level MMA. He's making the absolute most of what he's got.
Having said that, his KO was off the hook (pun intended).
I love to see Barry fight, so. Big fan!

Who cares if they've thrown a kick? What do you think would happen if JDS fought Beltran?
Man, can he MAKE 205 though? He weighed 242 at weigh ins.... I don't think he can. No way.
Like most good kickboxers his hands are behind his legs.
