for the Dynamite K1 show under Hero's rules
I hope Bobby is thrown out of the ring or something
Not a bad card imo...
K-1 Dynamite, Dec 31st 2006
Yoshihiro Akiyama vs Kazushi Sakuraba
Masato vs Yong-Soo CHoi
Katsuhiko Nagata vs Shuichiro Katsumura
Hideo Tokoro vs Royler Gracie
Akebono vs Giant Silva
Norifumi KID Yamamoto vs Istvan Majoros
Ken Kaneko vs Andy Ologun
Musashi vs Randy Kim
Genki Sudo vs Jackson Page
it even says "Freak" on his jacket!!
Looking forward to seeing Royler in action again...Concerned about the Sakuraba fight...The rest is kind of ho-hum..It's going to be a wonderful Holiday Season chalk full of MMA :)
I'm worried for Saku's life, other than that this card is shitsauce.
Actually there are a few fights on here that are interesting...Sakuraba vs Aikiyama could be painful to watch for Sak fans...Im actually very interested in the Masato vs Yong Soo Choi fight...Choi was a very good World Boxing Champion and won his 1st K-1 match by 1st rd KO....I think he will be in over his head against Masato (Masato is bigger and we already saw him destroy former boxing champ Vince Phillips)....Nevertheless I am interested in this fight as I have followed Choi's career closely...The Hong Man Choi vs Bobby Ologun is Choi's 1st MMA fight...People hate on Choi cuz he's over 7 ft, but he's developed into a decent fighter in K-1 and he is definitly trying to get better
They have finally put together a fight between Musashi and the Korean shotput champion. Step back and think about that for a second.
Wow.
"Jackson" Page on the card listed by EvilMaster is actually Demacio Page, right?
"They have finally put together a fight between Musashi and the Korean shotput champion. Step back and think about that for a second.
Wow."
Ummm no dude...Choi was the WBA Superfeatherweight Champion and he made 7 defenses of the belt. I realize to the TUF Tapout dork army this fight isnt interesting, but I'm liking it.
This card will be very entertaining.
Everybody who clowns this card will all want to know the results of the Hong/Bobby, Akebono/Silva fight.
In addition to these awesome spectacle matchups,
We have a nice passing of the torch matchup in Akiyama vs. Sakuraba.
A Classic Japan vs. Gracie matchup in Royler/Tokoro.
A Classic Boxer vs. MT matchup in Masato vs. Korean Boxer.
"Ummm no dude...Choi was the WBA Superfeatherweight Champion and he made 7 defenses of the belt. I realize to the TUF Tapout dork army this fight isnt interesting, but I'm liking it."
I think the guy was refering to MUSASHI's opponent NOT MASATO. THe guys name is Randy Kim
A lot of BIG japanese names on this card. This card will be less interesting for US fans,
but c'mon
we have
GENKI (perennial UG favorite)
Masato (top 3 kickboxer in the world)
Akiyama (fastest rising star in MMA)
Sakuraba (greatest legend in MMA)
Kid Yamamoto (top 2 P4P fighter in MMA)
k-1 should stick to kickboxing
Choi not going to Pride. Guess Fightsport was wrong this time. They're so hit-and-miss.
Looking at this card, I really can't believe that there isn't room on the dial for Pride's show this NYE.
Hideo Tokoro vs Royler Gracie will be great IMO. Royler needs to get back some pride for his family.
Good to see Katsumura fighting again. He's not been very active for the last few years.
Choi not going to Pride. Guess Fightsport was wrong this time. They're so hit-and-miss.
Actually I'm not sure if Fightsport reported that Hong Man Choi signed with PRIDE.
It could have been mmaweekly or sherdog
Wow, I was going to say Musashi (heavyweight) vs a flyweight would suck. Masato should tool that dude.
Tokoro-Gracie and Akiyama-Sakuraba should be good. I hope Choi smashes Ologun out of MMA forever and ever.
Roibn.
"It could have been mmaweekly or sherdog "
No it was FS. Their "postal connections" said that Choi was pulling out of the K1 NYE show by faking an injury to go to Pride to fight Cro Cop.
do you have a link? I'm not doubting you I'm trying to find it in the Fightsport archives but I can't.
