What is the best way to hook the arm when your opponent gets into that fetal position and they have their elbow real tight to their body.
on their side or turtled?
Its when you pass and they begin to turtle but you are able prevent them. They end up in what I guess you would call fetal position.
They are on their side with their back to you and you are behind them with maybe a leg over.
I end up in that position alot. The armbar is right there but I can never seem to hook the arm in time. Or I get to focused on it and loose control.
Go to the harness instead.
try threatening something else instead of going for the arm every time. You are still in a good position.
Place your fist on the side of his neck and put all of your weight on it.
That moves the arm every time ;)
when in doubt smash the neck/head. go for harness and w/ gi i like to get the push pull choke started. that will get the hands into play or they will choke.
thanks for the info
If they are on their side with their back to you, look for the bottom hook first. I usually use an over/under grip, sit them up and look for the bottom hook. From there you tend to have more options.
If you put your top hook first, you are giving them an opportunity to escape to half guard.
