I hate what viacom is doing to bellator

This line of thinking always is strange to me, how is it "bad" that Bellator is signing these guys?

Its not like they are promoting these guys as the face of the company besides Tito and Rampage which is understandable, they're big names in MMA

Bellator needs depth in there divisions, ex UFC guys are just part of the division like the rest of the guys and they still sign all the other prospects like they have in the past, whats the problem?

Was Ben Saunders a bad signing also?

^I think he's more or less pointing out how Bellator is no longer being run by Bjorn. If I remember right, Bjorn went out of his way to talk about building their own talent in the beginning, and that they didn't want to be a place for UFC cast offs.

Recently it is looking just like that. I don't have a problem with signing guys like that, but how bout make them work their way up into the main-event/co-main event of the live cards by winning a couple in Bellator before hand.

Bellator in the past has done similar things before Viacom came into play

Kurt, Razor Rob, Huerta and a couple other guys, Saunders also

Since they have been woth Viacom Bellator has gotten better, look at the tournaments compared to the first couple years, they also are on Spike now which is better than ESPN deportes, FSN and MTV2

The production has gotten better, more talent and on a better network, getting mad a viacom seems silly at this point

I dunno about it being silly to get mad at them. Agree to disagree?

I definitely enjoy HD Bellator events rather than the shitty FS or MTV2 broadcasts. I enjoy Jimmy on commentary, and I actually enjoy the tournament format for the most part, though I think it hurts having their champions wait so long (damned if you do/don't like you said, and I don't have a great resolution that maintains the "title shots are earned" slogan other than shorter tournaments like the summer series, though I don't know if I like that as it is too easy to set it up for guys like Mo to be set up to walk through.)

I think Huerta and Saunders, and to a small extent Rob, were signings of guys who people still thought had some fights left in them. Kurt, Grove, Tito, Rampage, Houston(though I have no idea what his fight record looks like recently) are all guys who seem to be signed for their name rather than their fighting skill right now.

I suppose that's where people have a problem with what Viacom is doing to what was supposed to be a "titles are earned" kind of premise. Personally, it is incredibly disappointing to me to see Tito/Rampage headlining over Alvarez/Chandler. I get it, I totally get it from a business standpoint, but what does that say about the long term interest in the brand?

I would venture a guess that Viacom will be promoting Tito vs Rampage, not Bellator 99(whatever the event number is): Tito vs Rampage. Total guess on my part, and they could totally prove me wrong, but it just seems to fit the course of action right now.

Blagoi Ivanov vs. Manny "Bam Bam Lara
Nick "The Mercenary" Moghaddam vs. Virgil Zwicker Phone Post

Blagoi Ivanov is the gnarly Russian guy that beat Fedor in Combat Sambo a couple years back. I've seen him train at Xtreme Couture and he throws down.

Fortunately for us fans, his opponent Manny "Bam Bam" Lara likes to put on a good scrap! Phone Post

Nick "The Mercenary" Moghaddam is an Allen Goes BJJ blackbelt and he has decent striking. His opponent is a Team Quest wildman named Virgil Zwicker who loves to scrap, and its his hometown so this fight should wake the crowd! Phone Post
