How close was I to blowing up entire building?

My apartment building is 4 floors, maybe 30 something units. A month ago I came home after long Friday work shift. Noticed smell in lobby. Got up to my apartment and noticed huge gas smell. Looked at stove and saw that my 3 year old must have hit gas stove knob in morning before we left. It was turned just enough to leak gas..... Oh for about 12 hours straight into a one bedroom apartment with closed windows . I carefully opened all windows then got fuck out.

I mean if somebody lit a candle would that have blown up the building?

I've taken knobs off stove since. Fuck that Phone Post 3.0

As someone in the nat gas industry. U came pretty close. Natural gas can only explode when it is approx - 10-15 percent of the air.
You more than likely made the house too rich to have an explosion during the day but when you were airing it out it had to cross thru the "danger" zone where one flame or even a spark could ignite it. It is a fairly stable gas tho and not that easy to light compared to other gases like propane.
If it was propane that shit is scary violent and you were in a lot of danger. Phone Post 3.0

Just asked neighbor chick and she thinks it's propane . That even in apartment buildings? It indeed smelled like a BBQ grill Phone Post 3.0

Looking back I realize I opened window and plugged in fan. Stupid? Phone Post 3.0

Yes. Don't plug shit in if you fear a spark will cause an explosion. Phone Post 3.0

oh fuck...lol...have a VU.

This is why I have always hated the idea of living in apartment buildings. When I lived in one I was pretty much waiting for someone to burn the whole place down or something.
