how did Dan Hardy NOT get his walking papers?

NoPlacebo - Because if you throw a bunch of sloppy shit and you have interesting hair then the fans will want to watch you even if you've had 8 fights and only one has been finished in your favor.

StayRad - He's the biggest name apart from Bisping in the uk mma camp and I guess they need at least a few well known uk fighters to keep the casual uk fans buying events
UK fans don't buy the PPV. It's free on ESPN for them. There are a few reasons he's not being cut

1) Lorenzo is sending a message to the UFC that exciting fights = job security. Look at Gerald Harris. One EXTREMELY boring round and he's cut - I think part of that had to do with his statements post fight. As well.
2) He is popular with the UK crowd.
3) There are still match-ups for him. When Kieth Jardone was cut there was literally no one left for him to fight. Dana didn't want to cut his but he left him no choice. Think if Tito lost to Bader, who could he possible have faced after that that would have been meaningful?
4) StrikeForce - Lorenzo said he won't be cut, but he didn't say he'll staying the UFC. SF could be a good home for him to build his confidence back up.
Still need to pat for espn though moron

He is right and who Pat the moron?

Kirik - UFC has cut a fighter who has lost one in a row, so number of losses is not the only criteria. UFC has always erred on the side of promoting and preseneting a legitimate sport, rather than a spectacle (Giant Silva vs Zuluzinho is not something you are likely to see anytime soon under the Zuffa banner) but it is not a non profit softbally tourney effort, it is a business. And it is a business run by massive MMA fans. Dan Hardy makes money, and Dan Hardy makes the fans happy. So Dan Hardy gets another fight.

When he wants it is another question.

toney couture?

Are you seriously trying to compare a multi time World Champ and future Hall of Famer with Giant Silva?

COMPLEXION. he's the brit chris leben...

Hardy is still around because Dana enjoys seeing a UK'r take a beating almost as much as the rest of us.

Someone has an unhealthy fixation

I agree with the OP, its not about hate for Hardy...Its about giving someonelse the Chance to live their dream, he;s filling up a spot and has had plenty of chances.

He NEEDS to be cut.

He needs to go somewhere and get a few wins.

At this point in the UFC who can he beat?

Being Dan Hardy is the only sure thing in this economy. I wonder if any major universities are offering degrees in this field yet.

are you seriously trying to say that wasn't a freakshow?

It's boxing, our #1 rival for the payperview dollar, and a sport with an immense amount of tradition and history. That makes it more of an old school early UFC style vs. style showdown than a freakshow.

Jack Skellington - Not hating or anything but with the UFC, they have cut guys who've lost 2 in a row. Hardy has dropped 4 straight & he's still with the company. WTF?

Go learn a thing or two about target audiences and marketability. Come back to us when you've done your homework in business 101

Hmmm, didn't read through all the bullshit.

But has a fighter ever been cut after winning FotN? My guess is it'd be hard to say "here's extra $ for performing so well. But we're going to have to cut you for loosing"...doesn't really make sense. Either you reward, or punish someone, not both.

chicagosmma - Hardy is one-dimensional. He should try K-1.

You should be banned for complete lack of originality

Says the poster named "Teenage Mutant Lesnar Turtle". How long did you think about that one before actually typing it in?

I thought it was a really competitive fight up until he dove into the guillotine, I'm not surprised or offended that they're giving him another chance.

I dislike Hardy, but from what I saw at the post-fight press conference he was very humble and he usually puts on good fights, I think this saved him.

I also don't count Championship losses in the losing streak WHEN you are talking about cutting a fighter. Losing to the "best" guy in the division shouldn't be taken into account IMO.

Also, Tito is 1-5? in his last six....not like they haven't kept fighters on a losing streak.

Hardy is a huge draw for UK fans.

All that being said, if he loses his next fight they need to cut him or send him to strikeforce. He has had the same huge holes in his game since coming to the UFC.

Im glad he's not getting cut, for HIM, but for other guys who have been cut, it's silly.

They were talking about cutting Machida if he lost to Randy.

Fucking MACHIDA. He's lost how many fights? Not 4, and not 4 in a row either.

Dana talks shit on Fedor, all the time, yet keeps around a guy like Hardy. Yeah, OK....

Like I said though, Im glad for Dan. I think he's exciting and brings UK fans in which is always good for the sport. BUT, it's certainly not fair when people are getting cut right and left after 2 losses, sometimes 1.

He is still there because he is "exciting." I will agree that he goes to WAR with people, but there have been other exciting fighters that still got cut. I believe Marcus Davis got cut after two losses, and I always though he was exciting to watch. Plus he has a cool nickname.
