The ref for this fight was Yves Lavin. He is without a doubt the best and most fair ref in Quebec.
The rope tangle rule is a pain in the a$$, but the refs need to enforce the rules as written.
Really, the QAC (Quebec Athletic Commission) needs to go to rules that bring the fight back to the middle of the ring in the same position as was tangled in the ropes.
All that being said, Farmer is a good friend and a very tough guy. MMA can go either way on a given night and the best fighters in the sport suffer losses, I think that is what we love about the sport. Win or loose our teams put on a great show.
Jerry, Craig goto the Canadian section of the forums check out the post att yves lavigne.
Yves posted why he stood it up and that he is working towards having the rule changed so the dominante fighter doesn't have to give up his posistion in such instances.
The fights on Saturday remind me why I prefer the cage over a boxing ring for mma.
They weren't really tangled in the rope. Just against it. I guess one of JC's punches touched rope , to me give a little lee way if making someone give up such a dominating position , this being said the Farmer looked like a strong fighter , he got up & came back strong !
i was in the middle of the ring and with no warning of staying busy we stood up.If all you have to to to pass mount is hold on for 20 seconds then why train bjj or wrestling.as you may know ive fought 25 times or so and been to 25 or thirty shows besides that and there has been bad calls in the ring at every event. But to stand behind a bad decision and defend it.Why? i was at the rules meeting nothing was said about standing fights up real fast. I can fight by any rules but i have to know what they are.Im not even mad for me I thought i did enough to win anyway.but john got fucked and if that was anything other than a mistake then those rules suck.Dont get me wrong I had a great time and would go there again in one sec.Normally i would prefer to stand up the fight
The Guys Jerry and John fought were both hometown boys, not saying that had anything to do with what happened. Jerry was making room from his mount to seperate for strikes, other guy was just trying to hold him down . Before he was stood up, there was no warning at all, I was ringside . If that stand up was a rule of thumb, no reason to worry about being mounted , just hold on tight til ref stands ya up .They Shouldn't punish the dominant positioned guy, when he trying to seperate while mounted guy is just holding on ,worse thing is right about as it looked like Jerry had created good space for strikes , is when Ref stood him up. Again that being said , Jaime was a nice guy who showed to be a tough guy with a ton of heart, that fight was a battle.

The fighter were excellent but I had some issues with the rules. I was cheering for Craig "Farmer" Brown, but it was total bullshit to have the fight stood up when he was getting pounded in the mount. They should be reset in the same position in the center of the ring.
Very good job to pull out the win regardless though.
I thought Santore won but the fight was close enough it wasn't a travesty.
