Just had a baby girl 7 hours ago and it's so hard to commit to a name this girl will have for the rest of her life.
I told the wife his name was going to be fahker jr. and that she didn't have a choice.
She said ok and that was the end of it.
I have 3 kids and after saying 100-plus names for each of them you just know when you feel the right one.
And also sometimes you will pass over a first name that you like until you say a middle name that goes perfect with it and then it just clicks.
I would take weeks with a name and run it through as many scenarios in my head as possible... The teacher calling his name in class, my yelling his name, a girl asking his name at the mall, his coach calling him during a game...
We went through baby name books, reading each name aloud and debating ones we liked. We took this list and put it on the fridge so we could think about it. After two months, we'd settled on Isabella. Some of our friends even had stuff with that name printed for us.
Then, after she was born, as I was filling out the birth certificate, her sister (who previous HATED the idea of a new baby and wanted nothing to do with it) ran over and insisted that we name her Charlotte. She wrote both names side by side, short version, long versions, with and without middle name, and ever started suggesting nicknames.
She was right. It was a better name. So we went with it.
TLDR: Some kid suggested it at the last possible second.
Wife picked daughters name and I agreed. Daughter picked sons name, she was 3 but happened to pick the name Joey, which happened to be my grandfathers and uncles name as well as my wife's uncles name all of whom passed on.
We had a couple names thought of and when I seen her my chick was still out and I went with a different name that came to my mind right when I seen her.
FRAT
Was looking for something uniquely mainstream without a funky spelling.
Just started going through names about 5 month into 1st pregnancy.
I've always liked Jens Pulver and looked as some variations of it offhandedly one day.
Ultimately came across Jenson but we had a girl sand ended up naming her Jensen. She goes by Jen, Jenny, JJ, and periodically Muppet Face.
She's 5.
Now my twin 3 year old girls... We decided on Peyton, my wife named her because I named Jensen. We were watching Broncos game one day and she asked, "do you like the name Peyton?" "Yup, done deal babe cuz I've never met an ugly female named Peyton."
Then at 21 weeks we got a surprise at the ultrasound, "Mr Pulveriser, has anyone talked to you about THESE babies?"
"Ummm, this baby?"
"Oh no Sir, you Pulveriser this pelvic region into twins."
So we went on the hunt to name the 2nd half of the split atom and wife liked Tatum which I really like as a name however at work a few days later I was going through short forms of names and Peyton and Tatum are shortened to"Peyt" and "Tate."
Well that rhyming bullshit ain't going down on my watch and it took us a good long time to figure out the split atom's name but eventually settled on Harper for no other reason than we just liked it.
Jensen (5) aka JJ aka Muppet Face
Peyton (3) aka Peytie-Pie (and because she'd be silly walking around with a name like Tom)
Harper (3h aka Harpa-a-Doo aka The Doo-Bear
Edit:Willybone
Only read your 1st para. Lol
Harper's middle name is Isabella, however, disregard.
fahker - I told the wife his name was going to be fahker jr. and that she didn't have a choice.Your wife must have known you were a chode long before that moment
She said ok and that was the end of it.

We went with each of our grandmothers names for our youngest.
I liked Isabella and Josephine, wife hated those, so we went with something with a little meaning to it.
Came up with a Spanish name that was pretty.... the possibly influenced by a place in Spain we were in a couple years before. Plus my wife in Latina/Spanish so it just worked.
Our little girl was due to be born in weeks
I was watching the tele and checking out the OG on my ipad, Wife looking up names on the net
She suggests "Sofia"
I replied "fantastic" which to this day Im still unsure whether it was in response to the name or what i was looking at in the Soup request thread I was sneakily checking out.
The middle and last names will be Stephanie Rose Sherlock, it's just coming up with that magic first name.
I like Bailey and Riley but my misses thinks they are both a bit to boyish.

Those were in our top 5, went with what we thought she looked like so we went with Kensley
It's to hard to pick this baby's name, I'm liking Maddison but it's tough.
We did minor talking about names but I said I wasn't putting real thought into it until I saw the baby (we didn't know sex either). When he was born we literally named him right there, bam, done. Don't think about it, feel it!

BrowBeater - I suggested 2 or 3 things, she shot them all down, so I said "whatever, just pick something". She suggested Hailey, I said OK.This is exactly how every "what do you want to eat?" conversation between a man and a woman in history has gone.
