How do trainers, coaches and camps get paid?

I understand a fighters Manager gets paid on a percentage.

I have no clue how anybody else surrounding a fighter gets paid (?).

I'll use Jackson/Wink for most of my questions, but it could be any top-camp we're discussing (ATT, Blackzillians, whomever...).

How does Greg Jackson or Mike Winklejon get paid?  Owners of the gym, head coaches, trainers.  Big Kahunas.

Who pays for outside training partners if they need to brought in to simulate an upcoming opponent?  Who paid for Maynard to go to Nova Unio (sp?) to train with Aldo?

Gym fees?  Does Jon Jones ($$$$$$$$) pay the same money to Jacksons as Holly Holme ($$) or the brand-new guy at the gym ($)?  Do all fighters pay a percentage of their win-money to the gym, or do they pay a set-fee?  Are brand-new-guy (0-0 pro record) and JJones paying the same?

Who pays for the "corner guys" at a given fight?  Travel, lodging, per-diem?

Is Greg Jackson and Winklejon making more money than (most of) their fighters?  Less?  Getting rich?  Living comfortably?

How do "normal" trainers or coaches (non gym-owners) at a gym get paid?  Obviously Bang Ludwig got invited to (and hired by) Team Alpha Male.  Does a guy like Bang recieve a fixed salary?  Does he get a percentage of win-money?  Perhaps both?

Do most of the gyms follow a financial protocol for the most part?  Or is it "every gym and trainer" for themselves and every single deal, at every single gym, needs to be negotiated?

Any insight to the inner-workings of the "normal, usual, customary" compensation for the "team" that supports the fighters efforts would be appreciated.  Feel free to elaborate beyond my questions above, I may have missed considerations and questions due to my complete ignorance of the subject matter.

some get a % of fighters purse

The fighter gives them money.

(As fighters are independant contractors they all likely write off the money paid as business expenses which helps taxes a LOT)

This directly and then there's the benefit of others wanting to train with you when one of your fighters is successful. When we've had successes with individual fighters, there are always paying students who've joined after watching them perform well. Nevermind that much of their success is due to their superior athleticism, work ethic, mental toughness, etc... these guys want that same training and are willing to pay for it.

It will vary based on trainer etc. I know some pros that train at Jacksons and they pay a flat monthly fee and no %, some are likely % base because they only come for camps. A lot of trainers usually work on a % from the fight and waive the gym fees.

The training partners are usually paid by the fighter, if pay is agreed.

Trainers usually have gyms they own or work out of and supplement the income with privates and things along those lines.

Revgear recently started sponsoring trainers to offset the burden to the pros. They are also offer fight camp sponsorships now. So the athlete can earn money while training.

VTFU everybody.  Thanks for the insights.

Ingrained, great info.

Nice!

Our gym is fairly new and we (the handfull of pros) are the trainers/coaches/fighters. We barely have money to keep the heat on. Do they sponser whole gyms?
