He wasn't the goat anyway. Still had another year or two of dominating to be the goat. Chances are he will be the goat one day though unless he turns down the fight on the 22nd as well.
It affects his legacy, and I think "great" encompasses a lot of things. Part of BJ's "greatness" is that he fought anyone at anytime. Part of Chael's greatness - despite a really high level of losses and not 'major' wins (major meaning Hendo over Wand major) is that he came to fight and got people excited.
By the end of his career, Jones may be seen as the best fighter to ever compete in MMA. But people will look back at Renzo, BJ, Nog, Fedor, Wand, Sak, Shogun, Hughes, and even a Chael Sonnen and wish for the good old days.
Most of all, they'll compare him to Dan Henderson.

I don't think it affects his GOAT status, though it will color fan and media perceptions for a little while.
