I don't see anyone who can take it if/when he gets it.
Rampage? Nope
Henderson? Not really
Shogun? Unlikely
Forrest? Never
long long time
I hope forever.
Rampage could.
If he wins it, he'll get caught eventually. You fight long enough, someone will knock you off your perch.
John Hackleman predicted this a year ago, Lyoto becomes champ and stays champ.
Hack can call em
Until Jon Jones gets about 5 more fights under his belt.
CarterSimpson - Rampage could.
If Rampage couldn't catch Keith with his little circling technique, there's no way Rampage could keep up with Machida.
He might have a nice long run if he gets the belt, but eventually everybody gets beat. Unless they decide to retire while on top. Nobody is invincible...
Every once in a while someone retries on top like Marciano, not saying Machida will but he could.
Until he gets old enough to where his fight game starts slipping.
MyFistYourFace - Until Jon Jones gets about 5 more fights under his belt.
I agree, it would take a black to do it.
Dana will fight him once a year so he doesn't break Chuck's record.
I think he will hold the title for a while. I do think if he constantly fights the best in the world, that he will eventually lose. I do think he will hold the title for a long while though.
until vitor belfort goes back to the ufc.
Gotta get the Title first against arguably the best LHW in the world.
Don't think he'll win it to be honest. How long will Rashad hold the 205 belt? That is the question.
He will win it, forget about it.
Shogun is the guy to beat Machida I think... and Im just basing this on style here.... but a prime, in shape Shogun would have my bet
But I really like watching Machida Fight. It kinda bugs my they promote him as a Karate guy when he doesnt reflect ANY karate fighting philosophy
Being a BJJ blackbelt I think he reflects the BJJ fighting philosophy better then most... which is solid position, he hits or no one hits, and fighting for longevity meaning not taking abuse/punishment for the sake of a position or the finish... all of which are BJJ 101 strategies and specifically NOT in a lot of other styles playbook
the guy is over rated at this time. He still needs some much more credible wins
