In the 17 weight classes and among the four major sanctioning bodies there are 48 different champions in boxing at the moment. That does not even include WBC’s Bridgerweight.
So just talking WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF and the 17 weight classes…how many of the 48 current champs can you list? How easy is it to see their next fight? How costly?
What upcoming title fights that are booked do you even care about?
I’d care about boxing more if it had less belts and less champs and deeper cards.
Waiting forever to see Mayweather Pacquiao and waiting and not getting say Fury vs Joshua along with all the bad decisions has always made boxing suck to a degree.
I sparred with some 18 year old boxers yesterday that have been doing it since being kids. What the fuck. No mma fighter should try transitioning to boxing anymore. They still had holes in their game that i was able to take advantage of but the speed and technique was nuts. Boxing really is the sweet science but i do think it takes understanding that science to appreciate it. Which is why boxing is dieing, most fight fans are casuals.
