Serious question, is there any toxicity danger from the can? I hear BPA is nasty stuff. What happens when you cook or heat water in a can like that?
That is actually a good question due to all the press that BPA has gotten in the media recently.
Here's my understanding:
BPA in large amounts can cause cancer. I think Tomato cans have the highest amount of BPA. The BPA is leached out through an epoxy/plastic liner used in the cans.
Steel cans don't use the liner which contains BPA. Neither do any 'fish' cans like Tuna, sardines etc.
Also here's a list of companies that don't use BPA-tainted liners in their products:

So best bet is to scrounge an unlined tin can. But worst case scenario, it's survival, use what you have. I would rather die of cancer later than dehydration now.
For the purposes of demonstration in this thread, the water was poured out, and an ice cold Magic Hat #9 was consumed in its stead.
Thanks for the link to the list of BPA free canned foods. I think tomatoes are worse because of the tomato's acidity not because the can has more BPA. That was why I was asking about heating up the can. I would think it would get the maximum BPA out maybe even more so than tomatoes. Also I think if you're a child BPA is probably more dangerous.
In a survival situation I would use a can, but a cast iron pot or aluminum pot seems to be the way to go if you could swing it.
Well that just made my day.
Glad it serves well, brother!

And you certainly don't need any help to sell knives on the OG;
I did want to express my satisfaction with the product. Might make a lash structure sometime soon with it.
