How To: Escape the WORST position in a street fight

When you first start training in the art of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, one of the first concepts you will be introduced to is why being mounted is one of the worst positions you could find yourself in during a street fight.

From being punched by your opponent with greater ease to the very real possibility of a third person intervening by stomping or kicking you, getting yourself trapped under the mount in the street can lead to suffering permanent injuries or even death.

In this edition of BJJ self-defense techniques, Brazilian Jiujitsu black belt and owner of Grapplearts.com Stephan Kesting goes through the basics of the mount position and the many dangers it presents for the person on the bottom while dispelling a few martial myths along the way.

Throughout the lesson you will learn how to get your attacker off balance, the pros and cons of different variations to grip their arm as well as how to get the sweep and get dominant position yourself giving yourself the option to either finish the fight or escape the dangerous scenario.
