how to keep your feet safe while doing leglocks.

I was wondering what is the best way to protect your feet against submissions while going for submissions yourself?Do you tuck the feet in the inside? I just want to prevent a ken shamrock vs don frye footlock struggle.. Thanks. :)

Depends on the leglock you are performing....got any specific questions?

Keep your legs out of their reach.

No I am not an expert.

When your doing leg locks keep your ankles away from his armpit and elbows.

Speed is key, leglocks are one of those submission types where you are bot vulnerable at the same time. Lock yours in fast, but don't crank to hard so you don't injure your partner.

Have a bail out plan in case your opponent starts getting the better lock have a way to get back to a more neutral position.

Use the saddle position and never worry about getting counter-leglocked again!

don't use leglocks.

if someone tries to leglock you, then pound them

leglocks in MMA = for newbs

Armbarring,

Check out Reilly Bodycomb's DVDs. Then check out Ryan Hall's 50/50 DVDs.

After that, fill in the gaps with Sonnon's Saddle (which is the same as much CACC positioning) through Youtube or the like, but don't dish out the cash for this one.
Also fill in the gaps with Paulson, who tosses so many options at you that it's easier to absorb after you have had plenty of leglock experience.

As for comments such as "Leglocks in MMA = for newbs," take that with a grain of salt. It's true that you see a lot of sloppy leg locking in MMA, and it's true that watching newbs fumble with legs is one of the most embarrassing sights in the sport, but well-trained, knowledgable leg locking is a dangerous thing of beauty.
