How to prevent these guard passes?

What are tips to preventing/defending these guard passes?

If your looking for a quick technique to difuse those passes, I think your going to be disappointed. I think the principals could be helpful about not letting him get set up (i.e. legs opened, leg pinned, etc), not letting him control the hips, play open guard, remembering to abandon (i.e. go to knees, roll over, go to back) the guard and transition to something more stable.


I think with any counter technique to the above passes, the passer could simply make an adjustment and continue the pass. So you really need to have the principals down and allow the unique situation to evolve being ready to adjust as needed.
