Nice op. Phone Post

"I bought a sign!"

Good stuff OP.

You can vote two different ways. Either mark the party you want 'above the line' and have your ballots preferences follow that party's preferences or you can go 'below the line' and preference the parties however you wish. There's lot of deals done for these 'above the line' party preferences.

There can dozens of parties to number if you go the 'below the line' route. Between major parties and big name independants, you have all the minor parties for crazy bullshit like Jesus, marijuana, guns, fishing, video games, sex, fluoride and Ayn Rand.

You don't directly vote for your prime minister though, correct? Just members of parliament?

Correct. You vote for the party, not the person... However in practice I'm pretty sure it's a major consideration for most voters Phone Post 3.0

No chance on earth American voters understand that system.

The senate ballot is a metre long this year!

I always fuck up at least one. Phone Post 3.0
