Sylvia vs. Nog is next, and this makes the most sense for the interim title.
However, Werdum is supposedly getting the next shot at those two guys. I don't think this makes any sense. He has been recently defeated by a former champion, Arlovski, so why isnt Arlovski in the equation?
If I'm the UFC, I tell Arlovski he gets a title shot if he beats Jake O'Brien, and I pray that Sylvia doesn't beat Nog. If he wins, he'll have three quality wins in a row against Pe de Pano, Werdum, and O'Brien, and he'll deserve the shot. I'll make him re-sign for multiple fights, of course, so he doesnt hold the belt hostage, but that's an easy way to get him to re-sign with the UFC. If he loses, its much trickier, but if he wins, he deserves the next title shot.
Werdum is a good fighter, and is working his way up, but if he gets a shot before AA it's unfair. I realize we might be seeing Big Tim v. AA #4, but what do you do with a guy who beats absolutely everyone but one person? AA is undefeated since mid-2002 to everyone not named sylvia. He's earned another shot imo, with a win.
I think Werdum should be fighting Cheick Kongo. Werdum and Kongo are both climbing the UFC HW ladder. Kongo, for all his weak points, is 4-1 in the UFC and it's time for him to face a great grappler. The winner of this fight will be getting a title shot if AA loses, or will get the next shot if AA wins. Werdum needs at least one more fight to deserve a title shot, and Kongo finally gets to prove himself against a legit grappler.
I'm not quite sure what to do with Cro Cop and Gonzaga, to be honest. I guess feed them both cans? Let them fight some low level guys, as an indicator of where they are. Cro Cop needs some of his mystique back, and GG needs a gas tank. I don't think anything else makes sense.
Nog/Sylvia, AA/O'brien, Werdum/Kongo comes first. Also Mir/Lesnar.
Next, the Nog/Sylvia loser fights Mir/Lesnar winner. I think this is a solid next step for whomever wins this fight. AA(if he wins) or Werdum/Kongo fights the winner of Tim/Nog.
