Spencer and Stout are not in the number 1 contender talk at 55 imo.
Edgar, Ken Flo, Huerta, Lauzon(if he beats Ken Flo), Tavaras, Griffin and Guida are all higher rated candidates for the number one contender spot.

He said it on the Ferrall show before the Chuck/Silva UFC. He said that he fought a lot in '07 and didn't want to get burnt out, so he is deciding to take a year off from fighting and while doing that he is going to go back to school.

You're right! I haven't seen it yet. A friend of mine was breaking my balls and told me Spencer won, but never told me that he was kidding. I just never looked it up til now.
