I have been training pretty regularly the last four months, but in the last few weeks my ears are getting huge!!! They are swelling up with fluid, and sometimes I have to drain them.
When will the fluid solidify and turn to cauliflower?
Also, its by the inner part of the ear, not out around the edges, will this have any impact on my hearing?
I have a pretty good set of cauliflower ears and i researched alot and there are a couple of ways of going about them.
1- if you dont want them forever go to a doctor to fix them properly, drain and clamp- but you will need to take some time off training and spend the money to get a really good piece of headgear.
2- stop training until they harden, or get headgear and wear it for a few weeks and they will harden.
As far as your hearing goes it only matters about your eardrum as long as your eardrum is fine then you will be ok. I was worried because you cant even see the whole now in one of my ears but i went to the doc and thats what he said.
draining and clamping is still no guarantee of normal looking ears! Mine still healed kinda funny despite being drained and sewn back together. Mine started out towards the inner bit of my ear but a successfully defended guillotine attempt meant that the swolled bit burst and the fluid spread to the upper bit of my ear! Looking back, I should've just tapped and got on with sparring, it wasn't competition after all!
