Normally just like anyone I can't wait for my next opportunity to crack on Sylvia. Ever since the Sylvia/AA 3, Tim has let down many fans just for fighting not to lose, and some boring fights. Even this fight with Vera was kind of lackluster because of the constant clinching, but that was all part of Tim's gameplan.
LoL, his fucking gameplans are always boring, but atleast this fight despite the clinching Tim moved forward and pressed the fight. This was a tough fight against an undefeated fighter, tim goes out and gets the victory and is BOOOED from the time he entered the building and even after the fight itself. I actually felt bad for the guy because he can't get any of the fans respect, and you know he wants the fans to like him.
Poor guy, he didn't deserve all those coonstant boos tonight. He fought a tough fight imo.
I agree completely. It sucked, it really seems to be taking a toll on him as well. Sylvia didn't come into this fight with his normal cocky attitude, he showed a lot of deserved respect towards Vera.
A lot of people are quick to dismiss him for fighting a boring fight but truth be told it looked like Vera was the one content with clinching and holding. Every time Sylvia got distance he unloaded and had Vera looking like a bobble-head.
I don't think he fought timid tonight. He looked aggressive and I agree he was getting the better of Brandon with the standup, and it was VERA looking to clinch up and slow the fight down. Tim wanted to trade and get himself a KO tonight!
How come nobody brings up his coach? Have you ever seen Miletich fight? He was the first to bring tactics into the ring where the main goal was to win by decision (i.e. fight not to lose). He molded Tim into the champion he is now. Unfortunately, his style is not fan friendly. Then again without Miletich we probably would never have hear of Tim.
Yeah, I truly think that without Vera hugging him it would have been a KO for Sylvia. Brandon wasn't out there to win he was trying to save himself from the knock out.
I dont feel bad. I mean, it is a bit unfair but also not without reason. He was a terrible main event/champ fighter and people dont quickly forgive that.
Looked to me like Vera was getting outclassed in the stand up and fought hard to get to the clinch. When it got to the clinch Tim fought smart and pushed Vera up against the fence.
The "Come on Brandon" line was priceless, nothing like trying to pump up your opponent to keep the fight exciting.
Tim looked honestly pissed that he didnt knock Vera out.
See that's the thing. I've never felt sorry for Tim in my life, because like many of you guys have said he brings alot of this negativity upon himself, I just didn't think he deserved the boos after this fight tonight. I think as a fan you have the right to boo and cheer if you want to, but the boos Sylvia got(especially post-fight) were just completely disrespectful and unwarranted.
no pity for tim sylvia. i think he is jus boring but thats jus me...or is it? anyhoo, the only thing tim has goin for him is hes a 6'8 250 pound beast. theres not alot of ppl that can handle that size. and jus pressing up ur opponent against the cage doing nothing doesnt make u a good fighter.

Yea, no shit. I've been saying this forever. Pat is a nice guy in person but ultimately he is the single WORST influence in MMA. His entire approach to fighting is to NOT fight and merely eek out points with the judges. Did you here what that fucker said to Tim after the first round? He told Tim to just keep pushing Vera against the fence. He actually WANTED Tim to win the fight by doing nothing but leaning on Vera.
Pat Militech is far far worse than Dana White for MMA. Worse than Fedor's manager. I really hate how Militech rapes the whole idea of what the sport is supposed to be.
I don't get why people are talking bad about Vera for not wanting to stand and slug it out with a much larger opponent. His game plan may not have worked, but standing and trading with a heavy puncher who is taller and heavier than you is just dumb. Sylvia should have wanted to stand in the middle and trade shots, not Vera. JKB

Pat M is one of the best things that has ever happened to this sport.
Watched the fight twice now, and Vera initiated almost every clinch, not Sylvia. Big Tim did a good job and was knocking the shit out of Vera in the exchanges they had. My 2 takeway from this fight:
1- Vera needs to drop to 205 now! Sylvia,Kongo, and now Lesner, all too fucking big for him to handle.
2- Tim needs to pack up and train with Randy full time. Militich has taken him as far as he can, and Pat advice from the corner is crap.
