I dun goofed - wiper fluid in coolant reservoir...

Car guys, how bad is it?

Coming out of the movie with my kids tonight I stopped for gas and bought a jug of coolant and a jug of wiper fluid, and with my daughter standing there chatting my ear off I inadvertantly poured the entire jug of windshield wiper fluid into the coolant reservoir of my Jeep. I couldn't afford to be stranded in town an hour from home so we drove that bitch back with no issue, as someone suggested I should have no problem getting back and then draining it somehow tomorrow.

Anyone no anything about shit like this. I'm a fucking reject when it comes to vehicles, obviously!

On the bottom of the radiator unscrew the plug and let all the water out; once the water is out screw it back on. Take off the top hose, stick a running water hose in there and let the engine run. Clean out the coolant system Phone Post 3.0

Just drain it and make sure the flux capicator is in tact.

Wait 24 hours.

Hook a garden hose up to the exhaust, put the other end into the window, and put in a Maroon 5 CD.

Damn.......see this is why I use OG instead of Google for so many things. While I already admitted that I was useless with vehicles, I can tell this language sockeye speaks is legit. He's not fucking with me like some of you are going to try to do following his post, and for that he gets vote ups every time I see his screename until 2026. Thanks for the precise post!

That was funny! Laugh out loud funny.

Your fine. Just drain it tomorrow. Or next week even, there's nothing in there that'll cause sudden damage. Don't feel stupid, one time I almost poured in gasoline that I had mixed for my dirt bike, luckily I caught a wiff just as I was about to pour.

You're suppose to fill the widow washer reservoir with rum..... Phone Post 3.0

OP make sure Fter you drain your radiator to run the engine to temperature with the rap cap off. Once the pump starts pushing coolant through the engine you'll see the level drop in the radiator. You can tell when it's full you see the coolant being cycled through. Phone Post 3.0

I've had some fellas say they use washer fluid to remove crap from the system. This is in vehicles that use anti freeze.

Not a big deal at all. Swap out fluid whenever you have some free time Phone Post 3.0

Be careful if you do take off the top hose to flush though. Seen a lot of people fuck up their radiator if it gets stuck on. Better to get a razor and just cut it off if you're having too much trouble with it. Phone Post 3.0

the_b00ts - I'd drain and give it a good flush sooner rather than later. Washer fluid is basically water, alcohol, and some other additives. The alcohol will evaporate whenever your engine reaches normal operating temperature. The unknown comes in the form of those other additives in the washer fluid that MAY gunk up. This is actually a common issue, so don't feel dumb, just get it flushed. Phone Post 3.0

This.

Just get it flushed as soon as possible.

Call a bunch of different shops if you don't have time/space/knowledge to do it yourself.

Shouldn't be an expensive job.

I thought it was funny enough to laugh my ass off. Phone Post 3.0

Yeah, no biggie, that stuff is mostly water anyway. Just drain and refill when convenient. Phone Post 3.0

I hope OP's husband doesn't backhand her!

Lololol,

This lady I worked with checked her oil by looking under the cap, she then filled her engine with oil until she could see oil. Luckily she was only a block away from our shop. Phone Post 3.0

It won't likely hurt anything. Don't worry about it. Phone Post 3.0

CLEAN OUT WITH DISH SOAP.

Might be late buy dont screw plug back in when back flushing... or take off bottom hose

Otherwise youll take everything inside engine block and put it back in radiator. .. you eant to flush engine of wiper fluid and radiator
