It will be interesting to see if UFC risks the Hughes vs. GSP 3 in Canada for next year and make GSP fight Fitch (etc.).
But maybe GSP wants to do that instead of waiting for a paycheck.
I feel worse for the rest of the division. GSP never once defended his title and has only had one fight since losing it. I don't see why he should get another title shot at all without at least one more good win. Yes, I know Hughes has only had one win over a non-top 10 since losing the title himself, but the difference is he was the most dominant champ in MMA.
I don't feel sorry for him a bit. If he would have taken Serra seriously and trained hard and won, he wouldn't be in this predicament, actually the whole WW division wouldn't be.

Correct, Hughes' long string to successful title defenses entitles him to a title shot. The only guy to successfully DEFEND the WW title since Hughes is... Pat Miletich.

Koscheck, Diego, Karo, GSP, Fitch are all having to fight and disqualify eachother. Meanwhile Hughes has taken 2 years off.
Since no one knows how long Serra is going to be out with his injury, the UFC should have Hughes fight either St.Pierre or Parisyan for an interim title.

I realy like GSP and I hope he does like Lidell and just fights another quality opponent....all these fighters call themselves warriors but the only one who has shown me that true warrior mentality is Chuck, he kept fighting and didn't want to wait for a title shot, like chuck has said...i'm a fighter that's what I do.....all these other fighters ae becoming businessmen instesd of fighters.
Props to Lidell for his fighting spirirt...Win or Loose...and I'm not even a huge fan of him...although i am becoming one very quickly.

how was serras win a fluke or luck? a wise man once told me "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity" and thats exactly what happened, give the champ some credit. Injuries hapen, and im disappointed aswell, but hey what ya gonna do? Get well Serra!
That is why GSP vs Hughes needs to happen next. Serra is going to be out for months. The Title has been on hold for too long. Let Hughes and GSP have their rubber match the winner is the Interim Champ. When Serra is 100% he gets his Title Defense. Meanwhile you have Karo vs Fitch fight to determine number one contender status and in case Serra can not make it back from injury in a timely fashion, we would at least have a top guy to fight the winner of Hughes vs GSP.
