As soon as you said this I visualized and heard it. Very true. The whole espn/“this is a sport so we’re going to present it just like every other sport” angle shows its weakness here.
Moments like that let you feel more of the intensity of the moment. It’s cool that Joe and Goldie did it like that, before it wasn’t in their control anymore. They probably didn’t even think about that they were doing that or why, they were just in the moment then too.
I do wish some producers/ directors/ whatever would see the bigger picture there. Not just go with what has been proven to get ratings, but try to embrace what is so unique about this sport.
For me, as a kid, I loved the entrance part especially Chris Eubank’s entrances to Simply the Best, he’d relish that part so much whether the crowd would boo or go mad. A great eccentric character.
You posted some of the better ones including Izzy’s dancing one, maybe the best mma one.
I’m not sure why the dislike of Vanderleis entrance, I like the track.
But yes, it just adds to the entertainment for the fans. I think it can give the fans more of an idea of the fighters psyche or at least their musical and entertainment ideas. Not sure why Dana dislikes them so much.
My cousin used to box and the walkout music was important to him, he’d get me to make a clip of his walkout sometimes lol.
I like the Mike Perry one where he dances to Oliveiras music
